Microsoft announced this evening that they will be integrating Live Messenger into the Xbox platform on May 7, linking 260 million Live Messenger users with 6 million Xbox Live users. Xbox Live users will be able to chat with up to six contacts simultaneously by plugging a USB keyboard into the Xbox. Gamers will love this. - Honestly I am suprised that microsoft – planned ahead using USB ports for remote controllers ; very cool ….
-RB- if any USB keyboard works; it just makes it that much easier to get people to unplug from their pc to experiment with it on their Xbox ..
– while Ps2 keyboard might cost; 30/40$ – we can get a regualr usb keyboard for $3 on ebay

They are also going to sell a QWERTY keypad for the 360 controller so you don’t need a clunky USB keyboard anymore.

That’s pretty cool. The Xbox is really centering itself as the ultimate living room device.
I may prefer the PS3 for games but the Xbox 360 just does so much it makes it a better all-round choice, and with DVR and IPTV functionality expected later this year it’s going to get better.
This would be awesome for controlling a media center box from your couch! Wonder if that would be possible..
I’ve seen some ppl complaining about ms adding live messenger instead of other IM services like AIM… thats plain stupid… it’s obious that MS will always give priority to their own services, isn’t?

SWEET! Gotta wonder what took so long for Xbox, which is basically a somewhat restricted gaming pc, to get the instant messaging, though. Doesn’t matter, here’s to communication and short attention spans!
