Given all the hype about VideoEgg, I decided to see what the buzz was all about. It requires a plugin to upload video; there is no plugin for Firefox on OSX (my preferred), and it crashed my Safari on OSX. The installer crashed for both Firefox and IE on Windows. Who's been able to actually get it to work?

Videoegg also has to pay expensive ON2 license fee, adds up fast. Looking to be sold to stop the bleeding, I expect.

It's going to be hard to make all those numbers work out for VideoEgg: splitting any small revenue from banner ads between:

1) Akamai CDN services (expensive)
2) The brand owner
3) VideoEgg itself

That's not much of a pot of gold to split to make it all work out.

I like VideoEgg overall, but I'm skeptical that it's viable in the long run.

Techcrunch folks,

I'm looking for easy-to-install social networking software that will run on a bluehost server. I've tried the open-source Elgg, but its behavior has been buggy so far. Any recommendations?
