MobileCrunch Exclusive: Nokia N800

Oliver Starr over at MobileCrunch has dished out a thorough review of the new Nokia N800 tablet phone he’s been testing under NDA over the past month. Oliver contrasts the 800 with the 770, saying it has a nicer form factor, with larger stereo speakers. The N800 features an 800 x 480 color display screen, two memory card slots (Micro SD, MMC, SD, and Mini SD) for cards up to 2 GB each (4GB by user experience), a faster processor than the 770, plenty of battery-life for a day of use without charging.
Check out Oliver’s post for his detailed review.

That Buy Now button doesn’t work. Dammit.
I mean on this site, I do realize it can be bought. It looks fantastic.
This, and other devices like it, will make the mobile digital media experience attractive to mainstream consumers. UI simplicity will be a driver to widespread adoption.
Im using the Nokia E61, and i am a Nokia fan, since 1996. but look at this phone design, its supposed to be a direct competitor to the iphone.
I would say, it doesnt stand a chance.
@Adam benayoun
actually, if it’s programmable it may become the bidness man’s iPhone.
don’t know if it is programmable.
Love the phone, but nothing compared to the king “iphone”!!

What an ugly looking device. That coupled with the poor product pages and painfully slow ‘flash demo’ of features doesnt help either.
I was hoping that the mention of ‘tablet’ in the title meant that this might be a good supplement to a ‘tablet pc’ — ie, one that you can actually write on. Unfortunately it seems to be another case of marketing fluff…
Remember, although this is a Nokia, it’s not actually a phone. It’s an Internet tablet.
Painfully slow ‘flash demo’? Hmm so you are either using dial-up or a second rate mobile internet because it loads just fine for me…
Btw, iPhone is hardly the king…
I own the 770 and it is a very interesting device. Not good for extended duration use, but if you have 802.11 or bluetooth pairing through a cell phone for internet access, it’s a lot nicer to use than trying to use a phone based web browser.
Looks like a nice gadget. I’d use it!
