Anyone who contributes to or cares about this post has WAY too much free time. Go get a hobby or a girlfriend.

Seriously. Google just added a tip to the top of search results. Who cares. They can do whatever they want. Just because they said “don’t be evil” doesn’t mean they can’t be evil. What are you going to do? Sue them?

Google is doing great. Please shut up and go get a life.

We need to stop holding Google's new product launches to an unreasonable standard.

Yes, they don't have all the feature of the competition. But as Google Reader shows, the features come in time.

Yes, there are security flaws. But Google's programs are subjected to far more scrutiny than their competitor's programs.

Although Google is having problems isn't that simply a hiccup that all companies have that are fortunate enough to grow to Google's size. If everything always went perfect that too would be an issue. My bet is that these are the type of wake up calls that are needed to make them even stronger in the future.

Has anyone brought up the "net neutrality" debate yet? For the purposes of this comment I'm assuming that what this blog has reported is true. If anyone remembers the net neutrality debate from this summer, Google, Amazon, et al's fear was that without strict net neutrality regulations Verizon, AT&T, and the cable companies were going to prioritize their own content over those of Google, Amazon, Yahoo and other content providers. It appears Google is trying to do the same thing right here. Kinda hypocritical if you ask me.

How are "tips" different from Google putting their own music store as a top result for any search for a band? Do a search for, say "explosions in the sky" or "U2" - what is the first result? It's a link to Google Music - with lame links of albums to buy at iTunes. It's always the first link and it's not labelled as "sponsored".

[...] I do not see what all of the fuss is about, while some see it as unethical as Google are effectively blocking out competitors advertising there (Michael Arrington has a long post on TechCrunch about ethics and Google going evil, something along those lines, I stopped reading half way through due to it being writing for writings sake) I do not. This is just a case of a company advertising it’s own services above competitors (logical) on another one of it’s services. [...]
