When PayPerPost announced the acquisition of most of the Performancing assets earlier this week, a lot of people asked about the future of the popular Performancing blogging plugin, which wasn’t acquired.
It’s alive and well and has been rebranded as ScribeFire. The site has a landing page up and will be launching shortly. In the meantime, the old plugin can stll be downloaded on the Mozilla site.
ScribeFire says that 400,000 people have downloaded the software. No word on how many active users there are, but a lot of bloggers swear by it.

I imagine this sale will attract additional attention to the new ScribeFire. I like the new name, its pretty catchy.
It’s an excellent extension. I couldn’t imagine blogging without it to be honest.
I am glad it’s alive and kicking, and I do like the new game.
I love the extension, great stuff. Hopefully the plugin stays FAR away from the PayPerPost people. I’d hate to have to uninstall it on principle…
Coool.. I like this name better to previous one…!!!! Let’s start it of fresh… Keep the fire up…
Cool … sounds interesting!
It’s a great add-on and it’s always been very actively developed which is always a good sign. I think this name is definitely better than the original. It always felt a little vague before and was never allowed to distinguish itself from the rest of the Performancing umbrella.
Yup…it is a great useful addon.
I signed up for the Performancing Ad Partners a month or so ago and was not thrilled when I first read about the Pay per Post deal. I then was glad to find out that the Ad Network was not part of the now dead deal.

ScribeFire/ PFF is an absolutely brilliant plugin. Without it, I couldn’t blog as many posts and articles as I do every week. I’ve tried different tools and even reviewed and written about other research tools, but everything leads me back to the Performancing for Firefox plugin (PFF, now ScribeFire). Sure it has a few bugs, but they’re manageable. Jed Brown has done a stand up job on this ultimate blogger’s tool. The only other tool I really have to use is Firefox and a mindmapping tool such as FreeMind, Mindapp, or MindJet MindManager, and Bloglines or Newsgator.
You should post investment figures when you make these deadpool / potential deadpool posts… I’m just curious to know.
