My guess is that Google wants to get rid of DeCarta's technology (www.decarta.com) who currently provide mapping, routing & local geo-search for Google Maps & Earth. With Endoxon, they will actually own the technology to do this in-house without having to pay usage fees to DeCarta. Either way, this shows that big G is getting more serious in local search & mapping. Fact: Endoxon had AJAX maps long before Google Maps.

So it acquired endoxon. Is this a signal that Google will acquire more map service providers all over the world? I know there are more than a dozen of such companies in China. Surely they are very happy to see this news.
