[...] As good as MyBlogLog is, there are some issues that I find with their service. First, their name doesn’t really describe the power of their creation (they are looking for a new domain name, thank goodness). Second, as this post suggests, spamming is an interesting challenge. Third, their widget and website design is functional, but not what you would call eye candy. Finally, their overall technology design is open to all sorts of attacks…I’ll post more about this later. [...]

Thanks Scott & Eric for explaining the situation. Appreciate it. Yes, at least an auto-response with the current status would have helped.

Anyhow, I've no more qualms now. :) Will watch out for the news. Thanks again.

I've been quite impressed with MyBlogLog. Nice work Scott :)

(I suppose what I'm saying is that I'm a bit envious of what Scott has created and that I wish I had the same technology on my own site.)

[...] Part of what’s given me this inclination is the who of MyBlogLog user community. While at first a geek-blog-only tool, this screen shot shows that Real Users, such as my cousin (JenniferCousin) have joined MyBlogLog’s ranks, and with their recent announcement that MyBlogLog will work on MySpace (where a wealth of Real Users socialize), I bet more and more users like my cousin will join the MyBlogLog community.
Joy -- we'll do you one better than that. We're cranking hard to get custom communities out the door. Soon, you'll be able to have your own Cleverhack-branded version of MyBlogLog at community.cleverhack.com (see http://community.techcrunch.com for an example).

Startup -- we're going to set up an autoresponse email that provides more info about the custom communities. As Scott said, thanks for the callout. We do the bulk of our improvements based upon member comments (public or private).

Yes...not thrilled with the name. Its almost a tongue twister and as one of my friends from another Forum that I visit would say..."it fails the radio test".

What about:

GabbingandGrooving.com

Think about it...this name imo perfectly describes a Social Networking site.

@ startups.in/India -- We work very hard on our customer service. How did you try and contact us that we didn't respond quickly and well? What was the problem and has it been solved?

@Denver -- The "Leave a Message" link doesn't work for you? Here's a link to leave a message for the whole community: http://community.techcrunch.com/lc_message/?i=2005092013300934
and here's a link to leave one directly on the TechCrunch editor profile:
http://community.techcrunch.com/lm_message/?i=2005092013300934
Please let me know if it doesn't work for some reason. Both are used all the time.

@Noel -- Our standard widgets are Javascript-based and don't work on MySpace. We had to build a specific widget for their system that is html and jpeg only, which unfortunately leads to some confusion. If you just cut and paste the javascript from your blog widget into myspace it will not work. You specifically need to set up a "Site I Author" using a myspace.com URL. The widgets page for that site is different and gives you the special myspace widget which should work fine. if you already did that and found some other bug, pls let me know.

[...] Geez…MyBlogLog is making all the right moves! I haven’t kept up to date with tech blogs I usually read since Zillow’s Wednesday release, but I just checked TechCrunch and found that MyBlogLog launched support for myspace profiles, which should grow their audience/reach considerably. I do have a myspace profile, but don’t really use the site that much–the experience is just too crappy. However, there are roughly 100 million users using it and people DO want the ability to view who is looking at your profile as this comment mentions. I wonder what approach MyBlogLog will take to raise awareness in the myspace community. As much as I hate to say it, my suggestion to rapidly raise awareness would be to target good looking girls and focus on getting them to place the widget on their profile. Guys don’t really look at other guys’ profiles. The myspace super-users browse around and look for hot girls–so by reaching them you reach all the guys using the myspace. A useful tool will spread via word of mouth VERY quickly…so I’m guessing mybloglog will continue their organic expansion strategy. [...]
