if your system got Fu^cked up by RogueRemover, here is what i did to fix it, I ended up hiding my partition with all my important stuff on it (Using Hirens Boot CD 8.8 and Paragon Partition Manager) , then remove assigned drive letter, and then did a full destroy and recover to Factory Specs., then after everything was back, i used Paragon Partition Manager to assign drive letter then unhide my Valuable partition. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE, DO NOT INSTALL RogurRemover, it damages your boot sector and that will make it impossible to recover unless you do the steps that i mentioned here. I will raise my voice on their forums from now on, because this was such a bad headacke.

[...] With the move to webbify all our personal stuff we are also creating a potential disaster. After all what happens if any one of these companies that you are using to store your personal information with goes tits up - where’s your information? This is especially significant with regards to companies that are being conned into using Web 2.0 based on cost benefits. Sure the Web 2.0 companies may say that everything is safe and on the up and up but what happens if you invest time and energy in a Web 2.0 company only to be left out in the cold. A good example of this is the JotSpot purchase by Google (TechCrunch Article). [...]

[...] Much has been written over the past few years on “Software as a Service” (SaaS), the idea that basic office applications and other software will increasingly be delivered as hosted services by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and other leading web companies. The recent JotSpot/Google issue shows however that smaller SaaS compnaies may find it more difficult to persuade customers to give up control of even that kind of software to a service provider, although they probably would to a major player. In application areas where the software delivers major competitive advantage, such as business intelligence, it also seems unlikely that large corporations would contemplate outsourcing those applications to an external service provider of any size, rather than running their own internal systems and appliances.
I'm deeply disturbed with myself for reading this far down the line of comments but I'll have to say I was entertained. Like watching a car accident, it isn't pretty but something keeps you from starring.

I'll get back to my Saturday morning. Regards.

He doesn’t backpeddle on his position though (which is good): “I can imagine the synergies Google can provide and can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Jot platform and I’m sorry you are unable give more answers about this future.
It's all good.

I understand. Huntington Beach. Is there an abbreviation for that? "A lawyer from LA" is just so rich though. Huntington Beach, well, is a real place. So I can't use that. I'll only use LA if I am really bent outta shape.

Sorry for hijacking your comments. I'll get my own blog or something.
Cheers.

Dave Newton, I certainly believe in individual success and I am at least ambivalent with respect to successful companies (why someone would ever get attached to a legal entity is beyond me, but I guess that's why I don't work for anyone else).

But I despise hypocrisy above all else. Don't pretend that you're morally superior and then turn around and sell your own Grandmother to the Chinese for a nickel. And don't bleat about inconvenient intellectual property laws as you steal the world's copyrights yet keep your own IP locked inside a bank vault.

If you're going to screw me at least have the dignity to be honest about it.

david8 - Whatever. I read it because it can be good on occasion, but I think Arrington is a wanna-get-rich lawyer from LA, not the anti-christ. I think it's a waste of time to only read stuff that one agree's with. The other articles and the concept of the blog are good - but the real stinkers that Arrington has dropped-in lately smack of ratings tricks and slimy salesmanship. I am entitled to my opinion so deal with it junior.

Well my esteemed HoHoHumdinger, I like your logic that Mr. Softy is somehow better in their business practices if only by virtue of not claiming to not be bad.

All kidding aside, my views regarding big corporations are far more cynical as in late-stage capitalism is a testiment as to how far greed, short-term planning, self-interest and fear of death can go. But life and its appetites crawls on...

Here are a few IMHO thoughts on Google 'destroying the Valley' (btw this most definitely *not* Google-bashing, merely my observations on the impact on business as it stands today with the Google fusion bomb blowing up under our feet.):

1. It used to be more or less us (The Valley) against them (Redmond). Now it's us (we, the few, the proud, the 'indies') against 80% of Mountain View and on down the 101 --thinking of the planned Moffet Google/NASA matrix battery farm, oh I mean Googleplex.

2. They have sucked the valley braintrust dry of good backend engineers and anyone who can spell semantic or bayesian. (Oops I better be careful.)

3. They have distorted the local salary and stock-option picture, just as AOLscape and Yahoo! did back in the late 90's.

4. The first words out of anyone's mouth around here when you present a new idea or discuss any reasonable technological/communication/yadda innovation is "Well what if Google decided to do this?" or "Isn't this a feature of Google?" ...as if Google stands for the G-D web/internet or brainwaves of life itself. Many folks are no longer designing/building/coding for people or the web - they are coding in the Google vortex and how all things relate to it. I miss the promise of the net before there were 8000 kiloton gorillas trampling about.

5. I am tired of one entity having such big ambitions. To organize and make accessible all the world information isn't the job of one company, a corporation registered in Delaware, U.S.A. It's is the job of many smaller components - from individuals and cities to companies and international organizations.

BTW Arrington still shouldn't have pulled a turd out of a crawler's cache somewhere and cried wolf. It's obvious he has an anti-Google agenda. You aren't Arrington are you hohoHummer? In any event, I gave you five points to explore .. I am sure the collective here can come up with more legitimate ones. Most listed above by others were blind bashing and some were just made up (re stock options, etc.)

But life and its appetites crawls on…

Hiptrigger --

How many times are you going to repeat what is essentially the same rant over and over and over again in numerous threads? Yeah, we all know that you think that Arrington is the anti-christ and anyone who disagrees with you is a stupid suckup.

If you hate tech crunch that much, there's a simple solution -- don't read it.

Hey Joe, we feel pretty burned too! We started using Jotstpot because one of our earliest employees is/was a close friend of Ben Lutch. So we figured Jot was worth looking at and could be trusted - we in fact were paying you guys the max amount per month until the acquisition (when you stopped charging).

These days (post-acquisition) our wiki is down more than it is up, which has a very big impact on our business. We have repeatedly emailed Jotspot support to no avail. Google acquired you in order to serve smaller customers than us - so you left us out to dry. We have certainly learned *our* lesson.

Yaaaawwwwn.

A large company buys a small company. And the small company's friends and supporters feel hurt.

So what?

Deal with it friends or get out of the business.

The good news is these people don't matter. And that is as it should be.
