We don’t always slam a company just for taking a new spin on an idea that didn’t fly in the bubble. But if the founders of the new company were part of the old company, and the business model looks a lot like a pyramid scheme, and they are saying publicly that the only reason it didn’t work the first time around was because the market crashed at the wrong time, we’re going to take a very hard look.
AGLOCO is all of those things, but it may be a good idea anyway. First spotted (and trashed) by Liz Gannes at GigaOm, AGLOCO looks to be very similar to a service called AllAdvantage that was a high flyer back in the day, just before crashing badly in the stock market burst of 2000. AllAdvantage paid users to surf the web by showing them advertising related to what they were viewing online. AllAdvantage also paid referral fees for new members that a user recommended to join. The company raised $200 million in capital and reportedly paid out $100 million to members.
AGLOCO is a reincarnation of AllAdvantage, although the founders are trying to spin a different story. Like the previous company, AGLOCO asks users to disclose personal information and install a toolbar that rests at the bottom of the browser screen. The key difference is that AGLOCO is also reimbursing a portion of affiliate fees earned from ecommerce sites when users make purchases, and they have a multi-level payout scheme where users can get part of the fees generated by referred members, plus new members that those people referred, down to five levels (this is why it is being called a pyramid scheme). It looks like AGLOCO is also offering stock in the company to users.
Matt Marshall has a long post that he wrote after interviewing some of the fifteen founders. They argue that the model will work this time because advertising targeting technologies are better, and the affiliate model will add additional revenue.
They may be right, and there is certainly nothing wrong with trying. If they can get enough people actively using the software, and the advertising market doesn’t implode, my guess is they will have a success on their hands. AGLOCO isn’t going to make the world a better place, but it may be a profitable business.
What doesn’t impress me about the company is that they are still telling stories about the last time around. In particular, co-founder Jim Jorgensen talks about a blowout party the company held in 2000, where the Grateful Dead played and the guest list included President Bill Clinton, John Doerr, Frank Quattrone and others. Not a humble way to start a company, or to convince people that they won’t make the same extravagant mistakes this time around, too.
No word on when AGLOCO will launch - keep an eye on their home page.

Thanks for the heads up.
Hey guys!
So I’ve created a website that will show daily statistics from the ground up for referring people for AGLOCO. Today is the first day of operation so I’d love some new members to start joining and seeing my project come to life. I’m going to add charts and daily blogs so people can follow along and even mimick my site. The site is:
http://www.aglocotest.com
I’m not sure if that linked so I will had the html tag
http://www.aglocotest.com
Thanks
Paul
Looking forward to hearing the toolbar launch date on saturday.
Seems like quite a decent program, and I am convinced that those with a healthy downline will carn some nice profits.
Best regards
Update!
Hey everyone.. I’m on day 3 now of my website and showing steady growth. See what is possible for your AGLOCO network if you get in early before the software is released!

Thanks

I also made money from the old AllAdvantage program. I am so excited about Agloco that I made a forum to keep people interested.

Remember that AllAdvantage paid out money, and now the same leadership from that organization has more experience and better technology. They are keeping costs low, I read that they are outsourcing the technical side of the business to China. Like it or not, they know they need to run the business in a very practical manner, especially in at first. The shares concept is great because it creates an easy accounting method worldwide for the members. From that share base can come future payments, which will probably require members to take another step, most likely adding a social security or taxpayer number, so as to legally make payments to members. The payments could come in two options, either share buybacks or as dividends. Either way, I expect this company to be making payments to members no later than June of 2007.
Well, I’m just trying to research more what I can find on this company. Looks like a good program. I don’t know AllAdvantage.com but if this company paid out $100 million back then I believe this makes this company legit. It doesn’t cost any members any money so I think there is really nothing to lose except for the time spend surfing, which we are already doing anyways and not getting paid!!
I also was a member back in the ‘ol days of All Advantage. I’m excited about this new program and have created a … you guessed it … AGLOCO Review Site … but mine has a different twist. I’m providing all people who sign up through my site a free customized AGLOCO information page that explains the AGLOCO toolbar and just how it works with their AGLOCO ID embedded. Click on Free Agloco Info Page at the bottom of the home page for more details. In the past week alone, I’ve helped three different people refer well into the double digits with their customized page and a few secrets from me

I guess I am an optamist.
You can go to any social comminity or business community and the most common question/complaint is ….”How do I get more hits on my website/ What is the best advertising methods to get my website seen or ranked.”
This is just another avenue for advertising. What is wrong with that?
Funny how everyone is barking about the toolbar when they probably have Yahoo/Google toolbar downloaded at the top of their screen right now. Where was all the fuss when Yahoo and Google introduced these?
Count me in on this. I’ve never been involved in anything of this sort, but if I can get a few bucks for surfing the net (I spend a minumum of 8 hours online per day anyway) then I am cool with that.
http://www.kryp2knight.com in case you want to join my team.
I was an original member of All Advantage and loved the concept. I was dissapointed when they had to shut down.
So I am very excited that they are making a comeback.
Hi
I think that anything that makes you money from doing NOTHING (apart from downloading a bit of software) is a good thing surely?
However, I’m seeing a lot of resistance from people I’m notifying about this service. Most the replies I get are “It’s spyware” or “Is this for real? No way! I’m not interested”. And even the people I do recruit (which is very few so far) don’t really understand the “pass your referal down the line” as I have a few direct referals but no downlines.
This resistance, I think, is going to persist until the toolbar is available. At the moment, we’re trying to sell an idea - “Vapourware” if you will and most people won’t buy into what’s intangible - even if it is free!. All the “Alladvantage paid out $100,000,000″ rhetoric is all very well and good, but for the most part it’s perceived as a “get rich quick” scheme.
I’ve even added a link to my AGLOCO referal page in my dating site and although my traffic is increasing (VERY slowly, only getting around 7000 hits per month) I’m not seeing anyone sign up from there. I think it’s difficult for people to understand that it IS an exciting thing thats happening but a there’s a lot of “too good to be true” feelings from users who are so used to seeing “Make CA$H from the internet” type ad’s that they feel that they shouldn’t touch this with a bargepole!
Anway, I’ll keep trying!
Andy

Whatever you choose it’s your choice! People AGLOCO gonna be bigger and more profitable than any other company on the net! Let’s grow it and get paid for it!
I see you have affiliate SCHEMES on your website right now.
I also think your comment that Agloco “isn’t going to make the world a better place” is a tad premature. “Big Telecom” should receive that statement while Agloco may open the doors for more independence and net neutrality.
We’ll see…the answer is down the road.
Yes, AGLOCO will be huge. Just waiting for ViewBar.

What I don’t understand is since they are issuing and distributing shares, why wouldn’t they have to register under the Investment Company Act. Clearly they are giving shares away to unaccredited investors. Are they excluded because they are GIVING shares away and not SELLING them? What am I missing here? Please enlighten me!! Thanks.
What’s up I aded your link to my blog page it is named AGLOCOHOTDUDE!

When you sign up for the AGLOCO™ program through this site: http://www.agloco.lnkin.com , your referral link will be included in our “signup link rotator”.
You will gain referrals when new visitors come to this site and sign up as members, thus your downline will grow.
You can, of course, advertise and promote your referral link yourself as well. This will further speed up the growth of your downline.
To do that, after sign up, send a e-mail to: aglocoexpert@yahoo.com with your refferal id and name.
Why do people kept saying and hinting that Agloco is a pyramid scheme? Pyramid scheme are when someone enrolled another person into the scheme for a fee and so on. And get paid commission thru those fees.
But there is no joining fee for Agloco. So how could it be a pyramid scheme?
i don’t know what the big deal is about this company being an almost clone like AllAdvantage?
first of all, AllAdvantage did not take any money from its members unlike other scams. Its the members who earned and was actually paid. Did any member got con into investing anything? No.
second, in the article above, the blow out party are always mentioned in many articles i have read. Folks, that was year 2000. Stop pointing to what happened 6 years ago. Past is past, get over it and move on. And please correct your story. it was a fund raiser and it was not AllAdvantage that paid the bill.
third, to the skeptic. Not one of you were members of AllAdvantage during that time. So what are you complaining about. No members got financially hurt when it crumbled. No members got scam of their hard earned money. Again, the members did not even paid anything.
So what if it fails. So what if it again crumbles. Will any member lose money this time. Again no membership fees. No member will cry when this company fails.
But alot would definitely smile if it succeed. And the skeptics wouldn’t be one of them.
I was skeptical on this Idea of AGLOCO. However when I read from people who had the experience in receiving cash payments from the defunct AllAdvantage.
I decided then to give it a try. I have nothing to lose here anyway. Except my time and effort to recruit. But in so doing I renewed my contact with most of my long lost friends and that is the only gain that I got for now.
However as of this writing, I am still in doubt about it.
The reason why I still keep recruiting is the challenge of building a network.
So, to all skeptics out-there I am skeptics too. Maybe you could join “ME” now! and form a network of “skeptics of Agloco”.
You can sign-in at my blog http://allaboutagloco.blogspot.com
ME (69), you are correct. There is no harm in trying, particularly when we have profound testimonies of the All-Advantage revolution of 1999/2000 still speaking today.
it is the masses that make a revolution like I found out in http://aglocomasses.blogspot.com, the only thing that could make Agloco to fail is if it is not embraced by the masses in the next six months.
smells like a scam, the long awaited “viewbar” still isn’t out….this is pure bs…..hell a programmer can code the complex game engine “sage” in less time then it has taken them to come out with thier “viewbar”
@drac: there is money in question
a lot of money..

You guys just have to be patient with agloco.
Agloco is a very unique concept, I have to give them that much. I am currently in the testing phase during this pre-launch period and have over 630 referral in my network.
I have personally referred 20 and those 20 turned into over 600 so far.
I teach a few very simple steps that show people how to do this themselves.
Go to http://www.whyagloco.blogspot.com to check it out.
I was able to use these simple methods to make over $1 Million in a few years…but of course those programs required upfront cost. Agloco doesn’t…its FREE…so we’ll see soon how much the members will get rewarded.
I am hopeful
http://www.whyagloco.blogspot.com
If they hold massive parties this time round, then I hope that I’m on the invite list!
Nice review of Agloco, but it seems to come from a viewpoint that is biased against multi level programs to begin with.
As always though, we should keep a watchful eye out for new companies that others tend to over-hype.

I got stun with the Agloco collapse. I spent a fortune on my own website and promotions through google adwords. In the end I got back nothing at all. What a total waste of time it turned out to be.
I have now joined Nunera.com and am at last making some nice revenue with not a great deal of effort at all.
Might be worth some of you who have also lost out with Agloco giving it a try?
You might even get some of the money you wasted in Agloco back.
Good Luck Filippa
