[...] Ok so it’s official and confirmed from Yahoo: They bought MyBlogLog. This was first rumored to be happening in November, but was never confirmed and we updated our post to reflect that. This morning the news broke again but was pulled immediately afterwards. Now it’s popped up again. Since I had no idea if it was going to stick this time, I called Bradley Horowitz, Yahoo’s VP Product Strategy, and he confirmed the acquisition. And Om Malik was actually at dinner with co-founder Scott Rafer when the deal was finalized, so it’s a definite deal. [...]

[...] Starting off the new year Yahoo has purchased MyBlogLog for 10 Million Dollars. There have been previous reports that Yahoo! will go through with the deal but was denied until recently. Forbes reports to have received confirmation that MyBlogLog will be bought by Yahoo! for 10 million dollars. Unlike other Yahoo! purchases, Yahoo!’s branding will be kept separate. MyBlogLog is a community aimed at promoting Blogs and allowing users to interact with them in a Social Network. Users can join communities and track Blog stats from within their profiles.
I think that it would be unfortunate for Yahoo to acquire it because it doesn’t align with Yahoo’s culture right now. Google has Yahoo backed up against the ropes and Yahoo is trying to buy innovation as opposed to change the company culture back to innovation. Just look at some of the other acquisitions that Yahoo has made recently. Most have gone from promising and innovative to settling into mediocrity. Why? Yahoo has lost it’s purpose.

If Yahoo did acquire it, it is because they are desperately trying to stay afloat. Their intention is not to incorporate and integrate it into their values for the purpose of creating powerful change in the online world.

Need more proof? Just look at Yahoo’s pitiful, cookie cutter, mission and values. Now Look at Google’s

Bottom line, I think that Yahoo would douse the flames.
