The video component of iLike is cool, but their social networking and music don't work for me. Goombah, a similar service, connect you with the top 20 people and they are amazing matches. You can see their entire libraries and what they have added and adjust your recommendations based on your 'adventure' setting. New free tracks every Friday - alternative but other genres too.

[...] We love the iLike service, which provides an excellent iTunes plugin that constantly analyzes what music you listen to and recommends new stuff. But what I don’t want to see is a “buy tickets” button next to each artist, effectively turning iTunes into a billboard. It’s not clear that’s what the companies intend to do, though. All they are saying now is that the agreement will “enable iLike to extend its reach while enabling Ticketmaster to engage consumers with deeply-integrated music and event discovery services intended to drive ticket sales.” [...]

iTube is a great tool for Windows users to download YouTube videos, convert them for iPod use, and add them into your iTunes library in one click.

After the launch of visual shopping search engine Like.com, earlier this week, comes news from TechCrunch that social music site iLike has added the ability to download music videos from YouTube to iTunes. Every song on iLike includes a link to play a short sample of the actual song. Now there is also a link to “play video.” Click the link and iLike searches for the video on YouTube, embeds it into the site and begins playing it.
iLike to compete with last.fm...

I spotted a new social music networking site - iLike.com through TechCrunch. Looks interesting at first, but just how easy is it to be a second comer in this market?
I mean last.fm recommends music based on your taste of listening, just as iLike does. ...

I wonder f iLike has made an arrangement with YouTube. Their usage of YouTube videos seems to violate the YouTube terms of service:

YouTube provides an "Embeddable Player" feature, which you may incorporate into your own personal, non-commercial websites for use in accessing the materials on the Website, provided that you include a prominent link back to the YouTube website on the pages containing the Embeddable Player.

IANAL but it would seem to me that iLike's site is a commercial website (presumably they are making money - perhaps via iTunes/Amazon referrals) which would violate the non-commerial TOS (nevermind that they don't have the prominent link back to YouTube). So perhaps they have a commercial arrangement with YouTube - or perhaps they are just hoping to fly under YouTube's radar.

I wonder f iLike has made an arrangement with YouTube. Their usage of YouTube videos seems to violate the YouTube terms of service:

YouTube provides an “Embeddable Player” feature, which you may incorporate into your own personal, non-commercial websites for use in accessing the materials on the Website, provided that you include a prominent link back to the YouTube website on the pages containing the Embeddable Player.

IANAL but it would seem to me that iLike’s site is a commercial website (presumably they are making money - perhaps via iTunes/Amazon referrals) which would violate the non-commerial TOS (nevermind that they don’t have the prominent link back to YouTube). So perhaps they have a commercial arrangement with YouTube - or perhaps they are just hoping to fly under YouTube’s radar.

[...] iLike (beta) - is nothing like the Like.com that we all buzzed about yesterday. No, this is a music social site, or social music site. Whatever it wants to be called, it is NOT Like.com - you know - shoes, jewelry, watches! [...]
