As we mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the next TechCrunch party will be held in New York. The date and venue has been set - Thursday evening, November 16, 2006, at BED in Manhattan. The party will run from 7 - 11 pm. The venue has limited capacity and we are taking open signups for 450 right now. As always, this event is free.
Register for the event here. Additional information on the party is also on that page.
There will be lots going on. First of all, BED is a really cool venue. We’ll have plenty to eat and drink, and music will be played based on party-goers’ tastes, care of partyStrands (see our writeup of partyStrands here). There will also, of course, be a number of demo stations for new product launches.
Our sponsor Conduit will be providing a custom toolbar for everyone attending and connecting virtually to the party. It is called CRUNCHbar, download it here. Once installed, it will update every time we add new links that provide relevant party details and content.
The current sponsors of the party (the people who are paying for our drinks) are below. We still have limited sponsor slots available; email Jeanne Logozzo (jlogo@earthlink.net) for more information.

When will there be a TechCrunch party in Amsterdam?
Free drinks the whole night?
Mike, glad to have TechCrunch in New York. I suspect the response equal or greater than west coast events.
i’m guessing this event is 21+
Finally, I am able to make it to an event. Look forward to seeing you there.
Finally, I am able to make it to an event. Look forward to seeing you there
Registered and looking forward to it.
Will there be one in Toronto? Only 8 hours drive from NY.
I don’t know about this, BED combined with any potential guy(s) streaking. Can get ugly.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the party!
hey,
the event is already sold out.
did i even blink my eye.
Look forward to meeting you all.
Alex
Could the gods of TechCrunch find it in their hearts to add one tech saavy enthusiast to the invite list at BED?
I’m willing to do pretty much anything for it! Indentured blog-servant? I can write and code and make pretty photoshop pictures too! I can also DJ (Sirius Satellite Radio) so enlist me to your help staff if necessary; I just want to come!
Dude
Its sold out. Any extra spaces available ? I’d love to come.
what happened:( i could not get in it is sold out???
Coming down from Boston for this one. Looks like I got one of the last spots
Hi Guys,
@ 1
or you could do like us, buy a plane ticket and fly over ;-). Does someone know a cheap place to camp?
Sold Out?
Will gate-crashers be allowed. does anybody know
any back-doors.
please………get me in……..
man, that was a quick sell out…grrrr.
And I wonder when there’ll be a TC meetup in Asia…
Where is the event website? I was looking for attendee list.
It would be great to have a techcrunch party for those in LA?
That was a very quick sell out for a venue that supports hundreds. Do I smell a data entry error?
SOLD OUT!!!???
maybe they only registered 45 people instead of 450
We were looking forward to this, but also woke up this morning to find the event sold out. Any chance of adding a couple more spots for attendees?
this is crazy. I think people should be required to confirm their entry later and that techcrunch release additional tickets for people that dont show up.
Sold out and I missed it
Anyways. Are here a bunch of people who would like to meet in NYC on a regular basis (e.g once a month) and grab a few beers? I am willing to host an event in Manhattan.
very sad. My lunchtime read of techcrunch was to late
Hey, how about a setting up a wait-list? In case people cancel?
And I call 1st spot there, considering I gave you guys the idea!!
Hey Seb, i’m down. I was even think about setting up a TechCrunch Pre/Post party. i didnt make the cut either. Alex
Darned!!! The one day I skipped TC with my morning coffee.
I’m second on the waiting list.
that was incredible, by 10:30 it was fully sold out. Is there a waiting list? Is there anything that can be done to get into the party?
Awww! It’s sold out! Come on Marshall, hook me up with a ticket!
Looks like tremendous demand ate up all available spots very quickly this morning. Are you guys considering opening it up to more people and/or planning a second night?
Thanks guys!
Seb, I’m down. Drop me a line on my blog, would love to get a more regular tech group going out here in NYC
I want in too!
yes, we’ll open up more spots at some point.
In case you open up slots from your comment list…please put me on the list…
Looking forward to the event! Charlotte, NC
Looking forward to this event! The last one on the west coast was a nice trip for our team out of Boston. Finally a East Coast one :). Hope to be down there and hope more slots open up!

CRUNCHbar is only for PCs? No love for Macs?
Mike, will you be updating this post (in which case I should use cocomment to track this…) or creating a new post with the new openings?
CRUNCHbar can be installed on Firefox for Mac (and any other platform that Firefox runs on).
anybody scalping tickets? just kidding
what time did this sell out?
Mike - I have a doctor’s note for missing TechCrunch this morning. Can I get added to the waiting list?
Next Tuesday (10/24) http://www.compete.com is relaunching.
Compete has terabyte, upon terabyte, of site traffic information that we are scrambling to organize - so that everybody can use and benefit from it.
The service will feature 13 month traffic trends on any and every site our member community has ever visited… *Think Alexa on steroids*
Be sure to check it out next week… and leave your credit cards at home because it’s all free.
Cheers,
The Compete.com Team

They may need a bigger venue or just add on a day.
Dude, do you people not learn from your last event. Sold out the same day listed, bah!
Here is an idea, how about charging for the freakin event, that way you will weed out the freeloaders and if collecting money is to heavy for your guilty conscious, what about donating the proceeds to a good cause or even better, award the money to multiple startups targeting humanitarian causes.
Freakin spellcheck ………
I know meetup.com has a NYC Web Entrepreneurs meetup- I haven’t been- but there was one last night. Any other good New York gatherings people know about?
Yeah for all these quickly overbooked events (Techcrunch parties, Web 2.0 Conf..) I think the organizers will have to stop being democratic (first come, first served) and pick and choose attandees to get a good mix.
Ok, by any chance if you add more people to the (wait) list from these comments, please add me
even if you and your entourage don’t make it to the official gig, there’s still a great networking opportunity to meet nearby with guinness as the un-official sponsor.
the fact that you’re here means you think in 2.0 and great ideas are still be had before and after bed. ( afterbed.com? )
anyhow, i’m in chicago and have wings. someone from ny jump in here and hook us up with an afterbed venue. -todd
What an amazing venue. I wish I was able to pop over from New Zealand for the event. Maybe I could. We’ll see.
See you there Mike
Haha, man that was fast
Spaces ran out…that sucks.. I knew I should have read techcrunch this morning
Ticket sold out.. can we still go?
rex from Philadelphia
if waiting list is from comments please add me to, you can see I added a comment much earlier saying bah on selling out before my lunch time read.
As for new york get togethers, I’d be interested NY commuter from NJ here.
Mike
if you do open up some more spaces let me know, I’ll be in Toronto at the time and NY is a short hop away.
Didn’t get in… oh well. If you’re in town the night before, you might want to check out BizDev 2.0 up at Columbia: http://www.nextny.org/wiki/show/bizdev2 We’re only half sold out so far.
Woot, BizDev2, I am there. Looks like I am going to have to crash another techcrunch event …
I call bullsh*t. Hey Mike- I think you owe it to the readers here to explain how this announcement was stillborn when early in a.m. EST the day it was announced, the event was already allegedly “sold out”. Smacks of a ploy to create perceived buzz.
Apparently I missed the announcement. And to those angry commenters: you catch more bees with honey than you do by being an ass.
This event is hot! Hope it is expanded so that I’ll get the chance to join even though I was too late first round…
Jason- my ass catches plenty of bees, thankyouverymuch. I know Mike, he rocks, and I realize I’m not playing nice. I’m just jealous (as we all are) at the thought of missing such an event (and the preceedings did seem suspicious…)
Jason Schramm -
If your going to comment about bees, honey, etc, you might consider a gig with disney, but first you need to clean up your language …
Dude, I was late to the email and I still got registered.
Is anyone in NYC for InfoSec next week? We’ve got some folks going to The Killers at the Gardens and looking for others to go out afterwards.
Please add me to the wait list, if any spots become available - looking forward to attending the event!
Mike/Nick - please add me to the wait list as well. This is for sure gonna be *the* geek party in NYC.
I would really love to be there. If you are allowing anyone else to join you, please let me know.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Mike- Jeff Pulver asked me to drop you a comment saying that he and I would like to attend the New York event. The eventbrite site says sold out, so please just let me know if we’re invited.
Jeff extended the invite to the Network2 party the night before, yes?

Hi, Mike. Please add me to wait list too please. I work for online ad company, and I am also interested in posting Korean version of TechCrunch. I am fluent in Korean and I have some friends in Korean Tech/Biz Community. Thanks in advance. Let me know if you invited me.
P.S. I see wait list ticket listed at eventbrite, but it wasn’t available. I wasn’t sure it was intended in that way or not though, so I am commenting.
Please add me to the invite list as well.
