As an owner of an upscale event planning/catering business I enjoy Facebook for networking with people in and outside of my tri state area. I do feel it is discriminatory against people, such as myself, if I so choose to participate in various question/answer contests as you have to leave a cell number. I do not have or like cell phones as they truly are annoying and interrupt my life while working or enjoying the few minutes of down time I have. I have had many in the past only to return them. I am available to clients 24/7 and it is one of the reasons my business is booming in a down economy. So how can I participate in any programs/contests without a cell??????

[...] Facebook has recently been making big changes, such as offering APIs and experimenting with privacy. Some of these changes have been met with positive feedback, and others with hostility, but it is obvious from these recent experiments that they are testing new waters. Probably the biggest change they have proposed though is opening registration to anyone interested in joining (Techcrunch coverage here). Facebook’s message to users makes is sound as though they providing a needed service, but I think their intentions are clear: they want to beat MySpace, and they aren’t going to wait for long.
[...] Now Facebook is opening up it’s network to high schools and corporations (coverage from TechCrunch).
"This is a bad move. Every pond-scum sucking, bottom-feeding, porn-addicted, unemployed, spammer, low life, intoxicated, disease infested moron will crawl out of the woodwork hoping to get a glance of a college cheerleader. "

Every alcoholic, spoon-fed, nose up in the air, cookie cutter, behind on loans, gossip queen, college enrolled moron is already on there. I don't think it could get any worse then that.

Open Facebook...

Facebook is now open to anyone with an email address. Of note is how they are focusing on privacy controls and communicating this change properly to their users. It will be interesting to observe how this change plays out....

As far as I'm concerned, this is a sign of the 21st Century. Face it, I enjoy seeing new faces, learning about them (while sitting on my ass). If you're a fucking total dipshit, you'll disregard this phenomenon. I, quite frankly, can't. It's a total, and obvious, pattern in modern society. People want to be recognized as INDIVIDUALS. Its only a matter of time before, and then, where technology catches up and recognizes this need. Long live Facebook (if only for the moment). Technology will reach its masses. I, for one, have been a huge Facebook fan. And whether or not it's for the sole reason I've been designing a fantastic business plan for the future upon this......I'll never know till I do it. But untiln then..................................?

This is a bad move. Every pond-scum sucking, bottom-feeding, porn-addicted, unemployed, spammer, low life, intoxicated, disease infested moron will crawl out of the woodwork hoping to get a glance of a college cheerleader.

[...] Facebook is now open to all. For those who don’t know, here’s what Facebook say they are. Facebook is a social utility that helps people better understand the world around them. Facebook develops technologies that facilitate the spread of information through social networks allowing people to share information online the same way they do in the real world. Facebook is made up of many networks - individual schools, companies or regions - each of which are independent and closed off to non-affiliated users. To join Facebook, people can authenticate into a school or work network, or they can join a regional network. They can then create profiles to connect with friends, share interests, join groups, send messages, writes notes and post photos. [...]
