For a similar service that is entirely free, http://www.myotherdrive.com provides a good alternative. It’s very useful for storage of eBay and MySpace graphics. Very slick and fast UI too!

I signed up and got my account right away. Very cool interface, especially their bulk import feature that uploads entire folders of files.

It’s kind of grayed out during registration but it looks like pricing after beta will be 99 cents for the first GB and 49 cents per gig after that. It also says up to 10 users per account but I’m still trying to figure out how that works.

So far, I like what I see.

You know, not every company succeeds. In fact, very few companies succeed. This company will not succeed.

So much for “gray-hair business smarts”.

Btw, when you *do* finally get signed up, you must sign some kind of agreement that says you will use “every feature” or be subject to canceling. I don’t have the exact wording, because I was laughing too hard to commit them to memory.

Unlike some Web 2.0 companies that start charging users for their service yet still refer to themselves as “beta,” the myfabrik service is currently in the final stretches of beta in a more traditional sense. In the spirit of a traditional beta there still may be a few wrinkles but the service is offered free of charge.

Also, in the spirit of a traditional beta, our terms also state that we may offer beta users a service subscription credit as a way of showing our appreciation for their efforts.

While being a beta user is clearly not for everyone, we’re happy and confident that we will be transitioning to production very soon. Did TechCrunch cover them in the past? I remember signing up for the beta a while ago. Must have heard of them someplace.

Mike, I also felt the same way when I signed up. I think they’re still doing new signups manually or something because it was a few days before I got login credentials.

I tested it out a bit and decided it’s no where close to being ready to use on a daily basis. Maybe a lot has changed in six weeks. It was pretty bad before.

I believe transliteration means to mixup certain letters with it’s corresponding counterpart, of another language.

When you are missing a letter though, it’s called a typographical error.

Fabrik as a company have been around for a while haven’t they? I seem to remember coming across them doing a Trademark search relating to a similiar name, there was (and still is) a trademark for ‘fabrik’ but the company could not be contacted at the time. I was just curious if this is the same company?
