Thank You For Coming To TechCrunch 7
by Michael Arrington on August 19, 2006

The TechCrunch August Capital Party last night was a big success (if you define success as the police showing up at a top tier venture fund’s offices at midnight to shut a party down). Not everything went perfectly, but the alcohol and food flowed smoothly and lots of companies were able to demo their stuff. Thank you to everyone who attended, and thank you David for making this happen.

Pictures of the event are still being posted - see the “TechCrunch7″ tag on Flickr, Zooomr and other photo sharing sites.

See TechMeme for discussion about the event.

Next up, New York. See you there.

Update: lots of good links to videos, etc. in the comments.

Come now, TechCrunch.

Is this anyway for a Web 2.0 innovator to behave.

Next Time have real-time streaming, or at the very least make videos for YouTube. ;-)

Hey SearchH EngineS WeB.

I’m sure more video will surface. There were lots of people shooting video there too. Scoble was there with his new high def camera.

It’s not exactly a video experience but if you want to at least hear an mp3 of Mike’s presentation last night we’ve got it attached as a Zooomrtation to this photo of Arrington and Scoble: http://beta.zooomr.com/photos/thomashawk/148163

Thanks for the great party Mike.

Tom

Hey Mike & Co., thanks for the great time.

Here’s the url to a photo with a zooomrtation (Audio Note) of your speech to everyone there: http://beta.zooomr.com/photos/thomashawk/148163

And your comment to security about Nick Douglas getting in: http://beta.zooomr.com/photos/kristopher/147547

Good times, thanks again!

Sounds like a great party. I missed it :(

I’m surprised to see quite a few hot women in this party. Next time will come more prepared:)

Thanks Mike, these things sure are getting big!

Pete: the problem is in hearing what’s going on. It’s all distributed conversations. I got a few of them on tape but I couldn’t hear the answers, so it was hard to have a real conversation.

It was more of a “see and be seen” kind of deal. Oh, and a business card swap meet.

Someone should start a Web service to put Business Cards online. That’d remove the reason to do a lot of networking.

The police showed up at midnight? I obviously left way too early. At least I escaped with some of my dignity still intact. :) Thanks for the great time!

It was just like the OK Corral!

Gunslingers everywhere, with ideas, money and ambition!

Where else could we all be?

No where. [!]

I found this on You Tube a couple of hours ago:

Sure Johnny, you ‘found’ it. Suuuuure ya did. I often find things I create.

Thanks for the party, even if my post about it was, as ‘they’ say, snarky.

Hey glad everyone had an awesome time!

Congratz Michael and all for putting on what seemed an awesome event!

Okay, I’ll bite. What’s in New York?

Sorry for phoning the police….:/

Techcrunch & would have been a great place to introduce the evaal.com search engine. But We promise not to miss the next event

Dude, I missed the streaker. Bummer.

Actually I’m sure you all had a great party , you need to hold the next one in Nevada Mike, they put up with gambling , brothels and Amazon there without the cops busting things up.

Techcrunch 7 would have been a great place to introduce the evaal.com search engine. But We promise not to miss the next event. We just made search 98% more efficient!

my TechCrunch7 photos are here:

thanks mike, great party :)

- dave

is it me or are streakers supposed to be naked, not in a swimsuit?

Who cares about the swimsuit streaker? Did you all know there were many more Tech Crunch crashers at the party? There were cheerleaders and a freaky wig girl crashing the party. I made the video and posted it to my YouTube account. Check this out:

What a great idea. I hope you make it to Austin.

I read Techmeme several times a day too ;)

Great party guys - can’t wait for the next one. Oh, and in case my wife reads this, I’m *not* the same grant as comment #5. :)

Hi Sarah, I think the video is great. I spoke to you for a few minutes at the event, although you didn’t know who I was. You seemed to think the techcrunch guy was pretty lame. :-)

Hope to see a Philippine startup at the next party. It could happen.

When the singularity arrives, TechCrunch will throw the party. Congratulations!

I tried to ping the trackback URL, but something nasty must have happened on the way. Here is my mini-writeup about the party

Thanks so much for hosting it!

Mike

Mike, great party…Whats going on in New York?

Okay, Michael, I do commently tweak you and your site on occasion, but I have to give you props for your sense of humor with Sarah Meyers :P

Hey guys, thanks for the party. I had fun and wish I didn’t have to bail at 8 to fly home.

See you next time.

Mick

Classic party - nice work Mike - just wish they had not started kicking us out at 11 or was it 12..

Posted a video on my weblog - http://www.teare.com.

Here is the embed code:

And the URL on YouTube:

Mike - another great party. Here’s a movie of the evening comprised from 23 different clips from our roving StashCam, ranging from the early check-in to Jeremy Wright with b5media to Sydney with Podango. Be sure to check out some wicked yo-yo tricks and the last clip with host David Hornik of August Capital.

Hi Michael, If the “techcrunch guy” you are referring to is you then I didn’t think you were lame at all! I actually thought you were the coolest guy there. You know why? Because you were the only one who actually talked to me before I got kicked out. I had a great time that night and I hope to meet you again.

Thanks for checking out my blog! If you want to check out my other blogs go to http://www.storytoday.tv/impulse :)

Looks like it was a great party Mike, sorry I couldn’t make it. Lo Toney wrote up a nice piece though…

See ya next time.

Thank you for hosting it! I had a great time and am amazed at how things have grown over the last year!

Hi Mike,
just wanted to also say thanks for putting together such a great event. The August Cap location was amazing and the weather could not have been more perfect. ;-)

Heh. We may never be invited back again …

If anyone who was at the TechCrunch party wants to come to a party on Friday at ROE (651 Howard st) email me, sarahmeyersblog@yahoo.com and I will put you on my guest list and get you 50 percent off. I am talking about a real party! Ohh and check out valleywag.com to see more coverage of me, the party crasher. Ha.

Sarah - you charge for your parties? Man, I should charge for my parties…

Michael- are you playing me? Because I think I am on to you…

P.S. I don’t usually let players into my parties with out a fee.

Just who is this Michael Arrington guy, anyways? 8>
