[...] MeeVee, an online TV listings and search provider, recently covered here, launched a redesigned site today with several new features. The new version combines the TV listings grid and watch list functionality into a single user interface allowing users to create a personalized TV guide. They’ve also added a social networking widget that shows your guide on personal pages and blogs and they’ve integrated the “TVwithmeevee” blog, with its creepy, phallic potato mascot (of which I am a fan), into the rest of the site. While MeeVee has moved the service forward with this launch, it still doesn’t go far enough. [...]

eight million for a tv guide?...

Ok, so I just came across this one. I’m still trying to figure out how this is going to help me more than tv.yahoo.com does. But hell, with $8,000,000 they must be doing something right.

The site has great search and solid listings. I use it instead of my on screen guide. Better tools to discover shows and from more sources (TV, the web, DVD, IPTV) would be great.

I re-did their slogan after driving by it for the 1,000th time (without any idea of what they did, what it was for, etc.):

*There's something good on*

rather than

*Find something to watch* (which sounds like a pain in the ass)

Nobody watches TV this actively to where they research what's on before heading to the TV. The on-screen guide is active enough. Seriously.

their logo sucks; when you drive on 101 to san francisco, you can't even make out what it says cause the 'v' is not really visiable;

and...why is this needed?

my company does way cooler crap than this; give me the 8 million and you'll have a way better chance of making money.

Ok - I am not sure I see the value in the guide as it stands now.

I am a Dish Network subscriber in their Top 120 program. Yet, when I pick Dish Network I see all of the channels including those I do not subscribe to. So I have to wade through 50% junk to even try to find what I am allowed to watch.

Second -- in terms of usability, I have issues.

Dish Network - Click Search, find the show, click it and watch or record.

Meevee - Find a show (hope I get that channel) then go to tv and continue with Dish Network option above.

I think for now I will pass, thanks.

Mike,

You have a typo in the third paragraph:

in an upcomiing acquisition spree.

an extra i in upcoming.

And good luck to Michael Raneri and Meevee. He seemed like a really cool guy when I had to chance to talk with him.
