BossBitching: Who’s been your worst boss?
by Marshall Kirkpatrick on August 8, 2006

boss bitching logoBossBitching is a simple but cool site where users can post anonymous comments about their bosses and other users can comment and rate the stories with a slick ajax interface. It’s fun, it’s like an old classic but for individual bosses.

Launched by someone who identifies himself as Unknown Tech Guy and claims to live in New York city (it could be just for effect), BossBitching is just the first of many sites planned to launch under the UberBitching brand.

BossBitching lets complainers categorize bosses by archetype and readers can chose between three responses to give a story they read, much better than a simple thumbs up or down.

You know what they say, find a basic human need and give the users a compelling environment to fulfill that need and you’ve got yourself a quality web site! Or at least a fighting chance. The one that complains about the boss who demands days-long blogging sprees without sleep isn’t me, by the way, just so you know.

Are you kidding? What slick ajax interface is there? honestly… you must be joking.. the current site is totally non ajax, and definitely non-slick.

“slick ajax…” omg!!!

In China a bar was opened recently where customers can beat up staff to get their life and work frustrations out of their system.

But a website may be a safer way.

Oh sorry, it must have been the onsubmit=”new Ajax.Updater(’reviews_container’, ‘/boss/rate/2′, {asynchronous:true, evalScripts:true, onComplete:function(request){eval(’setCookie()’)}, parameters:Form.serialize(this)}); return false;

that fooled me. As for slickness, it could be better but obviously you can decide for yourself. ;)

Too bad “complaining” websites are ILLEGAL and can be sued for defamatory information.

Tech crunch has now jumped the shark, as this is not a company, will get sued and is a terrible idea. Much more mean and insultinig than JigSaw will ever be.

Thank god the “crunch” crap is over

Great idea! It would be even better if could have group posts and forums. All in favour of Freedom of Speech place a emotcon :-] on your comment.

Johhn, did you even use the website before commenting?

Freedom of speech and slander are two different issues

Please stop writing about crap. I generally look at the sites that I read about on TechCrunch because I do somewhat value the opinions expressed here. However, I just lost about 5 mins that I will never be able to get back. Thanks!

Bosses come and go but the general company attitude will outlast most boses. There’s a more interesting website called http://www.jobvent.com that is company specific not boss specific.

Worth a look: http://www.jobvent.com

Slander? There are no names being attached to the site, so people can vent all they want. If an identifier was included, then there would be trouble.

All he writes about is crap. Who uses any of this garbage? Do you have any idea what a browster is?

LOL. I totally think the same thing.

Tech Crunch Jumps Shark are you one of those bosses being written about on the site?

My worse boss was this terrible person named Susan, she was a general manager at Lenscrafters. I couldn’t stand this lady… eww couldn’t stand her… and then later in life, there was David, Ann, Mark, Suzie, Lee Ann, Glee, Dan, and a few more but can’t remember… pretty much if you are a boss… then you suck. Except when I was a boss, then I got fired. :) I guess I was too fun! I work for myself now and I am having a blast!

This is really similar to http://www.ratemyprofessor.com, very useful site for college students like myself.

What is so slick about this site again? Was it done one weekend when “unknown tech guy” was bored and now it’s featured on techcrunch? Covers like this take the “crunch” out of tech. :(

why is it illegal?

oh my goodness; let it go. this article is not that big of a deal. enough microbitching.

Hm… In my opinion, this doesnt really deserve to be listed on TechCrunch… Plus the only AJAX is see is the part where you actually rate the person from the story. The interface is lacking. I was working on a *very* similar site, but due to time constraints I had to let it go. No big loss, heh.

Recently, Tech crunch released notes on how to get featured. The most important was to have a kickass product. I don’t see any kickass quality in here. Anyone can blog a bitch boss and dedicate it all for him…

Techwarrior , yes I am your boss and you are fired!

Everything is not free speech jackass

Now, play nice. I respect your opinion. Whatever you think is right is right.
