[...] Another awesome addition to the Rollyo toolkit is the Rollbar bookmarklet, this allows you to site search any website you are viewing…up until now I have been using the Google Toobar site search feature. This is the same bar the lets you search your searchrolls from anywhere or even add sites to your searchrolls…see more at TechCrunch. [...]

[...] Google has now added the ability for its users to create their own search engine. Your ready made search engine will only pull search results from sites that you choose. Possible use could be for multisite search from your network of sites or searching of your favorite sites. “This isn’t new - Rollyo, Eurekster and Yahoo already have similar products. But Google is also offering, as an option, to bundle the service with Google Adsense ads and share revenue with websites that embed the custom search engine into their site. Only Eurekster currently shares revenue with users. Yahoo’s product, which got a lot of press at launch, has barely been mentioned in the nearly three months since then.” ~ Michael Arrington [...]

[...] samfind.com: Depending on how you look at it, our competitors could include websites like Clusty and Rollyo. Clusty is an interesting service that consolidates the search result of multiple websites in one place. The topics it offers and websites it consolidates are limited to the ones they have chosen. Rollyo lets you use any websites and creates a search result from them. Both are interesting websites with fundamental differences from samfind. We believe that user’s value convenient and instant access to the websites they want to get to. Our goal is to stay out of our user’s way and provide convenient access to the websites they want to get to so that it is as convenient as possible to get there. Our competitors only provide consolidated search results from groups of websites not direct access to the websites that they consolidate. We also believe that users do not want a middleman to present the search results to them. Frankly, we think Google can do a better job at presenting their own search results than we can (or for that matter better than Clusty and Rollyo as well). We direct the user to the search result of the website they want on that website. We simply make it easier to access these search results and compare the search results among multiple websites. Another way to look at our business is to say are competitors are Google Personalized Home, My Yahoo!, Microsoft Live and Netvibes. But, while we are able to be a homepage replacement like these websites, we plan to launch with a series of widgets that will interface with these websites so in fact we will not be competitors as much as we will be functionality providers.
"But instead of looking for a large venture round of financing, he’s self funded Rollyo and has only one full time employee. By keeping the burn rate super-low, Rollyo can stay the course."

It's interesting that Rollyo lets you import bookmarks from your browser and use the domains of the sites listed there in your own search rolls, but I wonder why they donlt take it further?
SOme time ago I wrote a tool that lets you use a delicious feed as the bassis for a domain or page based search, again using Yahoo as rollyo does.
The working demo is at
http:/blogs.open.ac.uk/Maths/ajh59/deliSearch.html

Come on all, these are actually all great tools. As Dave mentioned at UTR a few months back, driving people to use these widgets and tools (anything other than Google is improvement) for more efficient search is major progress in the internet search sector. I believe Dave is doing a great job hitting up the personalized side to this market. Eurekster is tackling the community/social side. It's all good.

Dave Pell and team have done a great job with the new release. Just a note on the backend: Rollyo is powered by the Yahoo! Web Search API. As Rollyo says in their <a href="http://www.rollyo.com/faq.html" rel="nofollow">FAQ</a>: "Yahoo provides the engine and Rollyo puts you behind the steering wheel."

Anyone else can give the Web Search API a spin here: http://developer.yahoo.com/search/web/V1/webSearch.html

Personalized web tools that require more than a single click for user set-up and ongoing management I believe will never reach any critical mass. What's so 2.0 about this outside of the Bookmarklet?

These are welcome additions, but honestly I still think www.atiki.com is far better.
At least, they've got a greasemonkey extension to collect feeds "on the fly", and you can easily filter these feeds using the search feature.
Standard web search is soooo 1.0 ;)
Come on Rollyo, when are you going to use rss as they do at atiki.com ?

[...] Techcrunch and Steve Reuble in his Micropersuasion talk about the search features that were released. The coolest thing though it allows you to search specific sites for the information you are looking for, then it uses Yahoo api and now feedstar to search for the blogs. According to techcrunch the new features include allowing users to clone and modify any other search engine. Reubel has his own Rollyo for interactive marketing search. [...]
