[...] It was labeled the Web 2.0 party of the summer – Michael Arrington’s TechCrunch party or TechCrunch 7 for those counting. This time the partygoers did not cozy up in Mike’s Atherton abode. Instead, David Hornick of August Capital played co-host to Silicon Valley’s movers and shakers, as the event was hosted at August’s Sand Hill Road offices. TechCrunch parties have a reputation for attracting a crowd and are typically a must-attend event for the digirati. This time it went to another level with over 700 attendees, who were fortunate enough to RSVP on the wiki before it locked up, receive a personal invitation from Mike, buy tickets on eBay, or guess the winning bid for the tickets sold on eBay. Registration line [...]

[...] On Friday I was demoing all night at the Techcrunch Party at August Capital. To those not familiar with Silicon Valley, this was where all the web industry movers and shakers gathered at a Sand Hill Road venture capital firm’s offices, to attend the party hosted by the most popular industry blog. Yep, that same Sand Hill Road where entrepreneurs go to pitch their ideas in the hopes of becoming the Google or Yahoo!. Anyway, one thing I kept hearing over and over again from the partygoers was “I’ve heard about Flock, but haven’t tried it since last year”. That’s despite several positive articles by Techcrunch editor Michael Arrington since we released Beta 1 in June. [...]

[...] Nerds from all over the Valley flocked to tonight’s TechCrunch party, including this one. Main takeaways: the chance to reconnect with some good friends (or acquiantances), and to branch out a little bit. There are already plenty of pictures on Flickr, and I’ll add mine when I get the chance. And no, I didn’t collect my $200 dollars, but apparently someone paid $501 to attend.
[...] I just caught the Web 2.0 documentary that Michael Arrington posted over on TechCrunch a couple of days ago. In it, Mike talks about the brewing competition of Ajax and Flash/Flex. I wish he’d go into a bit more deatil about what he thinks, but it’s a very small part of the documentary, so there isn’t much he can do. It’s very clear that he has a lot of interest in the Flash world, and I look forward to watching him flesh out his thoughts. Maybe we’ll see something on TalkCrunch. Or maybe I should just fly down for a TechCrunch party so I can ask him what he thinks. [...]
