[...] The size of the round is notable given the relatively sparse capital needs of a startup like Meevee. This tells me they may be looking to use some of the cash, or their newly valued stock, in an upcomiing acquisition spree. As noted in our post above, there are a lot of competitors in this space, and it needs to be consolidated. In my opinion, a merger with MobiTV, discussed in this post, would be an ideal combination of content and guide. [...]

I think that VDC (www.vdc.com) is a really innovative service. Think about receiving cable television anywhere with an internet connection...

* At the office
* In a classroom (for college students)
* A dorm room where students may not have a TV
* At the library
* And of course mobile phones

With more channels I would definately subscribe plus the quality is the best I've seen on the web.

Good links and info there. We have entered this arena with the aim of building up a broadband feed, satellite channel, mobile TV and portal all at the same time with each feeding into each other. Not easy but we've had some good response so far now we are live on air. Hopefully we can stay more agile than the bigger broadcasters who can't afford to turn over their airtime to this new way of broadcasting.

Rex is right.

The main web address of "Current TV" is:
www.current.tv

That is the one we should use with Alexa.

TV on the Internet

You should add Ripe TV to the list…

Sensory overload – There is limited shelf space and it will be interesting to watch the fall out. In my opinion most of the Aggregators will slowly disappear. The TV Networks have figured out that they can create their own Portals and control the content.

The New Broadband Networks that will make it are the ones that have “Original” programming like Mania TV and Ripe TV. Most of these are cross platform, e.g., Ripe TV has a deal with Comcast “On Demand” along with Akimbo etc. They are located in the epicenter of “content” Los Angeles and have access to the top talent.

In citing Current TV's non-success ("hasn't taken off"), the site that you link to via Alexa is this one (CurrentTV.com), which is #245,765. However, the one you probably should link to is this one (Current.TV), which is significantly better -- #14,708. Not sure if it changes your appraisal, since citing Alexa is dubious anyway.
