[...] I just got an invitation to take Filemobile for a spin. It’s a multi-media hosting service - currently in alpha and being developed out of Toronto - that’s targeted at people (bloggers, media firms, etc.) that want to share podcasts, videos, songs and photos online. TechCrunch recently gave it a nice review. Then again, most stuff on TechCrunch gets a good review for what it’s worth. In a recent review, Pete Cashmore described Filemobile as “Photobucket Meets YouTube”. I’m going to try Filemobile and provide more details soon.
[...] Kiwi Bloke makes a great case for Toronto becoming the Web 2.0 capital of the North. The recent activity from Toronto startup and the tech community in general has been very positive. In the last couple of weeks, several Toronto-based projects have received their short bits of fame — Bumptop on digg and other sites, FileMobile (local demo coming soon) on TechCrunch, and BubbleShare also on TechCrunch…that’s all great stuff. [...]

Hey Marshall,
eSnips is also right in this space, with the difference being that it’s more social and open, and lets you have many separate, shared spaces in one account. We also saw the logic of sharing everything in one place, and gave our users the ability to share what they want with who they want.

@Raymond: eSnips offers 1GB for free, and our plan is to keep it this way because our focus is on publishing, not just storage.

Disclaimer: I am the marketing diva at eSnips

Tough service, they blatantly calls the users of the free option freeloaders. if they don't want to offer free account to users who do not know that such services cost money, then do sell the product well so you won't get freeloaders. This is service that calls their prospect clients/community freeloader.
