[...] TechCrunch first profiled Pluggd when they launched in June. The company’s basic feature set is very cool, but not as cool as this new search function. They now report having more than 100,000 users and say they’ve seen their monthly uniques grow well ahead of schedule. The company has six full time employees and six part-timers; they’ve raised some angel backing and are working to raise further funding. They’re going to need it to crunch the kind of data this new feature seeks to engage with. [...]

How is this compare to Melodeo? I'm using their Mobilcasting app on my T-Mobile RAZR and it's very fast. Their site seems more developed than Pluggd too.

[...] Pluggd is a podcast directory with loads of built-in features, like tagging, rating, and an in-browser player. Social networking also plays a big part in the site, so you can share reviews and listening lists. TechCrunch’s Marshall Kirkpatrick had a nice rundown of the site last week, and we’re looking forward to getting the grand tour from Alex himself next month.
[...] You have to wonder how sites like these are going to differentiate themselves from others offering similar functions. ZapZap does have a full feature set, it looks great and being available in two languages is a smart move. The only thing I’ve seen anyone offer lately that ZapZap doesn’t include yet is a javascript bookmarklet to tag an offsite podcast into your personal archive, as Pluggd offers (see review of Pluggd).
Very nice! I agree - the design is good. I find Pluggd's search engine provides better results. I thought the idea of searching within the audio, like Podzinger does, was a cool idea, but without the right ranking algorithm you end up with worse search results. I'm making Pluggd my podcasting site of choice.

Good to see this space is continueing to attract attention. I am currently working on a site, grepr.com, that we are planning to go into beta beginning of July (Monday July 3rd). Our goal is to offer custom recommendations to registered users based on their current listening habits. While offering basing directory service for unregistered users. If anyone is interested in learning more or participating in our beta feel free to check us out, grepr.com. The landing page is still going through some final work, but figured this is a good time to first mention our site.
