[...] So anyway, MySpace–for all its flaws–is fun for me. And so I just wanted to pass along this little piece of info: MySpace Careers is launching tonite. It’s like a Monster.com for the young person. It has internships, summer jobs, outdoor jobs (hooray!!!!), and more. I doubt it will have anything outside the U.S. (boo), but it’s still a great tool. MySpace Careers is a partnership between MySpace and Simply Hired; together, they should be a helluva team.
[...] The BBC is reporting that MySpace have announced that they will sell their search feature to find other people on their site to one of the ‘big three’; Microsoft, Yahoo, or Google. This is possibly a very good move for them, for two reasons. Firstly, it establishes them as the ‘official’ social network, if a ‘Google People’ search has a little ‘Powered by Myspace’ button underneath it. In the social networking space, it matters hugely what network your peers use, so if you percieve one product as the market leader you are more likely to signup and use it. Thus MySpace could further secure its position at the top, becoming the market leader not only in terms of %, but also in perception. The other advantage for MySpace is the more obvious one - driving yet more traffic to their website. The increased exposure from such a deal would definitely help them to reach people outside the 18-25 demographic, something that they are already trying to do with products such as the recently launched MySpace careers. It has become clear that they are trying to become a service where people of all ages list themselves, and a search on a big site would help them. [...]

Interesting timing of New York Times hatchet job on MySpace this morning - saying that your myspace blog could cost you a career.

These media companies are all so conflicted that the article now reaks of a competitor bash.

It's hard to keep track of all the partnerships so thanks or the reminders. Big Media is as bad as the big brokers now with all the conflicts.

[...] The MySpace (owned by Fox Interactive) social networking website derives millions of hits per day, and now, MySpace is adding a Careers (MySpace Careers) section to their community powered by Simply Hired. This will allow people to search, find and apply for various jobs in numerous categories. This is really interesting because of the massive amounts of traffic MySpace gets. It will be interesting to see how others like Monster.ca and other employment websites will be impacted, what are your thoughts? Via TechCrunch Web 2.0 ShareThese icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages. [...]
