Update: Ok, tickets are selling faster than we thought. We’ve sold 300 in about 45 minutes. We are going to shut down the list for now and re-open it in a few weeks.
After a long hiatus of old-fashioned social networking (a.k.a parties), we’re pleased to announce our second annual TechCrunch Party on the fabulous outdoor patio of August Capital on Friday, July 27, 2007, in Menlo Park, California.
Like last year, the party will be held at August Capital. They have the best outside deck on Sand Hill road, and have graciously agreed to co-host the party with us again this year. Photos from last year’s event are on Flickr.
We have room for a dozen demo stations for companies to show off their products. There are also a number of sponsorship opportunities for the party. If you are interested in supporting the event, please contact Jeanne Logozzo.
Since we have limited capacity of 500 attendees, this year we’re asking a $10 cover charge to help manage the attendee list and minimize no-shows. We’ll be donating 100% of the ticket proceeds to Kipp Bayview Academy, a public elementary school in southeast San Francisco, for the purchase of computer-related equipment. Attendee identification will be checked at the door.

The link says “this event is not currently available” ….
That’s just a special result screen just for you, Kevin.
When’s the next Seattle party?
i’m gonna be there …
It’s a good thing that you are still using Name and ID mechanism, cause once they are sold out these would sell for a pretty penny on eBay.
Looking forward to it!
Is there a place to see who’s already signed up?
All sold out?? Will pay $100 for one ticket, I’m serious. Any takers?? I really wanna meet Mike!!!
**alert**
Internet celebrity overload
Mike, looking forward to it.
should bump it up to $100 Mike, no-one would begrudge that considering where the money’s going
#5, Rob, meet #8, Vik.
Joking aside, why does it matter how much they sell for in a natural market?
And sorry, Vik, I totally would have given you mine (at face value). I thought about purchasing a couple, for that very purpose. Again, I live in Seattle.
Or go to the virtual party instead

Oh, damn, I missed my chance to get in. I’ll have to beg and nag now. Hey, Mike, I’ll take you to a sushi dinner in exchange for a ticket!
wahoooooooooooooo!!! =-)
Wow - Silicon Valley could REALLY use a downturn right about now.
I cut out early on my dinner when I learned via twitter about the TC/Aug Capital event. Some people steal away politely to indulge in wii or japanamei… others log onto TechCrunch
Is it nerdy to get excited about a tech mixer event 50 days from now??
If it’s worth a few hundred to you, you may as well consider sponsorship. Last time I went, the sponsors had very well layed out booths in the middle of August Cap’s HQ.
I wish people would have tech parties here in L.A. They’re fun and it’s nice to get around people who are going through and doing the same kind of stuff you are, which is rare for me living here.
Have fun boys! (and girls).
Patricia,
are you going to the Caltech VLAB event on June 16 in Pasadena?
Hey, ignore #14 Robert. He promised me the same thing and we ended up eating sushi from Safeway.
Give *me* a ticket instead. I promise you nothing but at least I won’t stiff you
I wish I could attend it!!
Michael: Is there any way you could open up a limited number of slots for those of us in Europe? By the time I woke up this morning registration had closed.
I’d very much like to demo at the event so any consideration would be appreciated!
Geoffrey
Ditto for those of us on the East Coast.
Patricia, twiistup is pretty cool and another one is one the way. Last one was in Santa Monica. We covered it here, http://bub.blicio.us/?p=155
Looks amazingly - impressive to have to close down sales for anything is a good
- Must be a nice problem to have
-RBowles
Looks like I’m going to have to grovel for a couple tickets too!
Be sure to wear your best “going out” shirt…
Tooooooooo Bad.
Could not attend last year because i was out of first 500 and not able to attend this year tooooo …. Tickets are sold out.
I will look forward for the next one…
Hmmmmm….
Michael, Please count me in for the next party as the first one..
Ahh, technology fooled me. I spent the whole day at Launch: Silicon Valley, and when I quickly glanced at my feed reader, I though this was just a case of a frequent feed problem: an old post re-generated in the feed as new … ahhhhhhhhhhhh
@ Larry I haven’t heard of it. I only hear about the digital hollywood stuff, econSM (who had a really, really good mixer a month or two ago). I’ll check into it or you can email me details - patricia@stylediary.net
@Brian, thanks!! I’ll check it out!
My friends LOVE coming to the events with me, too, even if they’re not in tech. I think that has more to do with there usually being a room full of pretty good looking guys and virtually no other girls
but somehow, everybody wants to come with.
What a crappy event for you Mike. Have to listen to everyone give their elevator pitch and laugh at everything that comes out of your mouth - funny or not. BTW, I’m really good at that. I will have you feeling like you’re Dave Chappelle in no time!
Nice gesture in donating the entire amount for school computer equipments.
Why are commentors not talking about that !
I wonder if there’s a market for a DramaFest party for skeptics of the Web 2.0 mania. Proceeds from the event would fund my acquisition of Aeron chairs when the Web 2.0 bubble bursts, although I might be able to pick up a few startups on eBay for the same price.
@ Drama, lol.
So much hot air in one place?
Hey, that’s on my birthday! Maybe I’ll have save a company announcement for the party — whee!
I bet a few of those tickets end up on eBay…I can’t wait to go to the party!
Looking forward to the Party.
The party will be amazing
@ patricia, looks like the next LA tech party is Twiistup in Venice on Aug 8 — see their site: http://www.twiistup.com
I’m so fired up for this party. I just can’t wait. With all this intellectual horsepower together, not to mention the setting–Menlo Park, CA– the epicenter of venture capital, I’ll be surprised if hundreds of million of dollars of deals aren’t inked immediately. Good effing times!
Hello! Good Site! Thanks you! qrnwusnaib
I just read your article in Wired Magazine - sounds like you put on quite the party.
