Off the wall comment here... but you know what Notebook is absolutely GREAT at?

Recipe clippings!

Before, I had to setup a new account at each recipe site and save recipe's there... or print them out, which I really don't always want to do if you see my desk / kitchen... anyways.

Now, I just hit the notebook and file under the correct section. I get the full content right there without remembering which site had that interesting chocolate oatmeal cookie.

Now, how's that gonna sit with all of those recipe sites that rely on getting sign-ups for marketing purposes so that you can save information with them? Or anybody else that does similar crap.

Google Notebook...

Google launched Google Notebook today, and unfortunately its not that great.
I read a few articles about it before launch, and most of them were fairly critical so I wasn’t expecting too much trying it. Sadly they were all mostly spot on.
Notebo...

as a mobile-obsessed dude, i see this new service in a different light. i think google is missing the integrated picture, to bring google personal, notebook, and so on all together with their transcoder.

if you see all the comments and all the different tools folks use, i think google keeps dropping the ball in closer integration of all their services - not just for the pc-based browser crowd, but also the mobile, where i think google could find some strong growth.

i have a more elaborate related post on my site:

Indeed Google's move towards more human-driven content is surprising shift away from their AI focus.

My favorite comparable: http://www.clipclip.org (though I'm biased)

You're off the mark: Google Notebook has nothing to do with social bookmarking or del.ic.ious. It's like a simplified version of OneNote, attempting to create an online equivalent to a notebook. You can organize scraps of thought together with it.

It's a start, but I'm more excited than I should be because of the promise it holds. I get goosebumps just thinking about how much this could improve by integrating with other google services: Bookmarks, Calendar, Writely, and Gmail. To have one central space with all five (six if you count Chat, which is already in Gmail) put together would create a phenomenal online space.

Of course, it may just be wishful thinking. After all, it's been a decade of Yahoo and MSN portals and nothing as idealisticly connected has popped up.
