MYBANDCAM.COM Takes On The Big Boys….It may appear that the video sharing industry is a huge “Hang” spot for teens and many others to find and watch videos, but what are those sites really for?..most of these sites like youtube and others are used for one purpose, and that is to watch your pet jump thru hoops & perform tricks, or watch someone do magic trick..this is why they call it video sharing. With most of these sites, it takes more than alot of effort to find videos of choice, sifting thru 1000’s of them to find a favorite music video, the guys who developed http://www.mybandcam.com had the right idea in mind. it offers just that…MUSIC VIDEOS of established bands, and bands on the rise. they have different catagories for all music types so you go right to the source. When you upload a video, it does not just get to the server. it gets to THE CATEGORY. And what they have done with advertising is cool…only music related ads of interest. I had a system developed by these guys that was custom, not some cheap script with no support and they dont use ffmpeg and used other encoders that are easier to install and allow support for more video file types. They provide a custom service. youtube clone

I hate the be the guy to give all of you web 2.0 geeks a reality check. The fact is that AOL is commands a market that many of you do not acknowledge–Grandma, Grandpa, Little Billy, Little Sara……..Even if you have a hard on for youtube, etc. AOL is only making the beginner computer user’s experience easier. My Grandma uses AOL and will probably end up sending me a video clip from her AOL before YouTube. Hate me if you want to, the fact is that AOL comes stock standard on many PC’s.

There may be some truth to the criticism that large companies aren’t taking enough risks in their projects these days. But I feel compelled to point out that in the post just before this one Google is criticized for all their half-baked ideas in Google Labs. I understand that experimenting is not the same as producing half-baked projects, but I think Google Labs and its share of unsuccessful projects is a good sign that the company is experimenting.

That is because big companies are generally risk adverse, which is one of the reasons they either let smaller companies take the chance and screw things up by attempting to innovate OR just buy a company once they innovate and have gained market traction.
