[...] Also, I have an admission to make. i have had an extremely technical education and career experience, but it has come at a cost. I have not honed my entrepreneurial pluck to the degree I desire. I have strong instincts within me and I have been sitting on a few startup ideas. That part is not unique to the Bay Area, but I feel the need for strong role models as well to show the light ahead. Honestly, I haven’t had the opportunity yet to talk to enough female founders in tech. I don’t think I realized how vital and inspiring that was until tonight when by serendipity I met CEO and founder Tracy Sheridan from Waxxi (recently blogged about in TechCrunch). We had an insightful chat and I am impressed by her interactive podcast [roduct and also with her as a person is following her passion and steering her own ship ably. It’s amazing how empowering it is interacting with someone who is confidently pursuing her business idea. Very much so! I wish there was an accessible unconference/gathering of women tech entreprenuers, VCs, and vital connectors. That would be my idea of a primo conference, and admittedly I got a taste of that at BlogHer! Strong women doing it well! Oh, and as a final word to this entry, I cannot resist mentioning that Arianna Huffington was a stunner. She is a wonderful, engaging dynamo on stage and an approachable, gracious person off-stage. Check out her insights and overview of politice on blog and also she has an >a xhref=”http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0316166812/sr=8-1/qid=1154280538/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-2795268-2616747?ie=UTF8″>upcoming book about to be distributed! I figure she knows her stuff regarding successful life approaches, oh yes. !
[...] Previously profiled TalkShoe is a similar service, but requires a Windows only desktop client. TalkShoe has a more complicated revenue sharing model and doesn’t say what percentage of the advertising goes to show hosts. It allows up to 25 callers at once, compared to BlogTalkRadio’s 4 callers at a time. Waxxi, another service we’ve profiled here before, offers a similar service. [...]

Hello, I just wanted to submit an information update regarding the MyChingo Audio Comment System.

A new FREE Membership is now available!

The free audio comment system has all the same features as a paid membership, with a reduced recording time of 2-minutes per message instead of the 30-minutes which paid members receive.

Sign up for your free MyChingo Audio Comment System by visiting http://www.mychingo.com/signup.asp

Timothy,

Yes, you could bery well be correct.

We've taken a look at scenarios such as that, and have built into MyChingo, the ability to "lock" the conference - so, once all the people have entered, locking the conference room door, and take care of business.

Well, Waxxi has the chat box set up for the conversation tomorrow morning, but it looks like it's simply built into the page and you're in the chat by simply being on the page. It seems to me that these IM "hallway chats" are very likely going to be more crowded than some large auditoriums I've been in.

Quite simply, the audio quality from recorded phone messages will never be as good as something recorded client-side on a computer.

MyChingo Audio Comment System (http://www.mychingo.com) is the answer for you.

It uses a client-side java applet for the recorder, and flash-based for a publically available audio player.

You control whether or not the messages are automatically made public.

Download or delete MP3 messages from your membership control panel.

If the big deal is to wrap up all of the MP3 messages into an RSS Feed, well, then it's not a big deal at all. Since I developed feedthenetwork.com, I've learned more than I wanted to know about RSS feeds. So feeds could be done from mychingo.com as well, but you should think twice about non-coherent messages in a feed, and if that is really what people want to listen to.

It makes much more sense for the podcaster to insert the relevent MP3 audio feedback into the next episode of their podcast.

I'm doing a Skypecast tomorrow (details at my blog) on business blogging as sort of an experiment. I look forward to testing out Waxxi as well. I think the real value in tools like these is in bringing people together in new ways. I'm excited to hear some voices for the first time - I mean actually HEAR them, instead of reading their output!

Waxxi is something that will work in practise way better than regular podcasts. We've been doing the same thing over at our xuqa podcasts (having users call into a scheduled podcast, but pre-screening them) and people really love being "in" the show. simulates the feeling of being on Oprah :)

[...] The problem with podcasts is that they typically don’t offer opportunities for group participation or interaction. You’re just stuck listening to a group of people sharing their views on a topic. According to Techcrunch, Waxxi solves this problem by allowing users to schedule a time for their podcasts and then invite a potentially large number of people to call in and participate. In addition, while the podcast is being produced, users can partcipate in a chat/IM conversation taking place simultaneously. Once completed, you’ve got a finished, hosted podcast that you can highlight on your website.
From what I've heard Skypecasts isn't very good at the moment. If you listen to the beginning of the last episode of ITT (In The Trenches - a very good IT podcast) you will hear theri opinion aswell a small recording of a show which they tried to record with Skypecast.
