[...] The big news of the morning is that YouTube has announced it’s hit 100 million videos served per day. Founded in early 2005, the company has raised at least $11.5 million in venture funding from Sequoia Capital. It’s one of many startups offering video sharing services, but for some reason now has an incredibly dominant position. This weekend’s announcement said that 60% of videos watched online are now served up by YouTube. [...]

Uh-huh.
200 Tb/day requires ~2,5 GB/s connection. I'm more interested how they store and serve their videos with that speed.
Let's all of us call their ISP and ask how much would that be:)

Mine's would initial offer would be 1,5M$:)

[...] All joking (or not) aside, I actually think that these numbers are worth dreaming about. The important thing is to wake up for a minute and realize that nobody’s really put a plan together that will make this a reality. Advertising revenue looks fancy schmancy but give me a break. If you’ve got 35 million watched videos per day and rapid growth, is advertising the best you can think of? Don’t forget about the million dollars per month it takes to keep this ship floating. Granted, costs for bandwidth will go down and as the big players expand it will only get cheaper. Regardless, that’s just detail and I’m still waiting to be impressed. [...]

[...] Stephen Bryant of Publish.com takes a look at the path that online video has blazed in the 1 year it has been around. The starting point – the release of iTunes 4.8 with video playback capability. Today, all the major US TV networks are offering content for sale on iTunes, ABC is streaming Lost, Alias, Commander in Chief and Desperate Housewives, YouTube has exploded, and Warner Brothers also announced that it’ll be using BitTorrent to sell movies and TV shows. The future looks very, very different from what mom and dad used to know. And advertisers and marketers are probably getting really nervous. [...]
