Wallop means getting a flogging or getting your ass kicked. eg: "He took a big walloping from the bully".

Hope these guys don't get "wallopped" by any other big social networks ;). (There aren't that many big ones out there, are there? ;))

[...] As for Wallop itself, it’s yet another of the social networking sites like MySpace that hopes to attract eyeballs and presumably thereby sell advertising. Micahael Arrington notes that the current mywallop.com is not what the ultimate site at wallop.com will look like and: I’ve seen a bit of what they plan to offer, and I’ll say that this is not another “me too” social network offering. And there are a number of unique business model twists that they aren’t announcing yet. The launch is scheduled for this summer. One interesting thing to note: the current Wallop site is all-Flash. hmmm. [...]

[...] Microsoft funded Wallop is preparing to launch in an effort to enter Microsoft into the “hey MySpace, we’re cool too” category along with Orkut & 360. Despite Techcrunch’s Michael Arrington saying that Wallop is not another “me too” social networking offering and CNET claiming that “the Wallop approach will center on trying to help people find ways of expressing themselves online that more closely match the way they interact in the real world.
Interesting..

myWallop have the ability to share stories, photos, songs, RSS Fedds and much more.
Sure, there are lots of services out there that gives you pretty much the same but the unique of myWallop is
without a doubt the really good looking interface and the usability of the site.
Can't say that myWallop is perfect but it have some good qualities and
uploading songs to mywallop really is fast, easy and the streaming is crazy! best that i ever tested.

For Flash addict like me i have to say that it's one of the best application that i use in that technology,it's smooth and beautiful.
(who said that Flash is out?)

I do hope that the "new" Wallop will know how to reserve what is already good and to fix and improve the stuff that don't.
It will be refreshing to see Wallop becoming a business model, certainly something I'll wait to try.

*for me one of the huge BUG now is that it's not support Hebrow.

[...] Just as I thought Flash will be taking a backseat in the Web Two Oh space, I see this mention on TechCrunch of a new social networking endeavour (actually a spin off of an older project), to be launched soon called Wallop. Not much is being disclosed about Wallop yet, except that it is significantly different than the existing Wallop project. I’ve seen a bit of what they plan to offer, and I’ll say that this is not another “me too” social network offering. For one thing, this is an all Flash application. And there are a number of unique business model twists that they aren’t announcing yet. The launch is scheduled for this summer. [...]
