Grouper Kung Fu Action (Humor)

As I’ve written many times before, the online video space is getting fairly….ahemcrowded (more).

One company in the space, Grouper, is dealing with the competitive heat through humor (in an intelligent way - by using their product as the host).

An internal Grouper email was sent out to all employees today that said “Grouper Street Fighter. Description: It’s coming for you…watch Grouper destroy the competition“. The email also had a link to a (Grouper) video that shows Grouper beating up (literally) its competitors.

My favorite part is when Grouper does a flying face kick to YouTube.

Icky… clicking on the links within the video opens them in IE. :( Why?

It’s working fine in Firefox for me. It does default to windows media player.

Nice way to create some buzz.

Really useless effort and only saw it because I read your blog. On top of that the windows only support is going to kill it. Well its already DOA.

Until the Grouper client supports HTTP Proxy, it’s worthless to a lot of users, especially the young people in schools and offices to which it might appeal.

@Mike - No, the links that were right in the video. The thumbnails you could click.

Hey - they didn’t beat up Google! If you watch closely, around the part where it beats up YouTube Google peeks in through the doorway for like a second.

I think the clip is hilarious. However, we here at vSocial think we can give our competition, like Grouper, a little more of a fight than the weak effort depicted in this video. You know this demands a rebuttal…. Coming soon!
