OVGuide provides a unified searchable interface into dozens of online video sites. There really can't be a "best" video site, since it depends on a person's tastes and other factors. OVGuide's approach is to give people a broad choice of online providers and the tools to navigate and search them. The site emphasizes browsing more than searching, since for most people, they just want to see the best video highlights on various sites and are not really looking for anything specific.

With all of the video sharing sites today, it is great to have one search engine to find the videos we're loking for. GooTube.net (Http://www.gootube.net) is the search engine of videos. By using a customized Google Search Engine(Google co-op), GooTube searches the web t exclusively for online videos.

[...] Veotag is doing this as well (we haven’t covered them yet but a few commenters have pointed them out in the past). Today I received an email from Howard Seibel, Veotag’s VP Marketing. He pointed me to this page which is a better version of a TalkCrunch podcast I recorded last week with Om Malik and Robert Scoble. He’s added deep tagging, so listeners can jump right to certain parts of the show. [...]

[...] Yahoo! has acquired Jumpcut: The Yahoo! family expanded again today with the acquisition of online video editing service Jumpcut. Here’s the Jumpcut post on the announcement and here’s the Yahoo! Search post. Based in San Francisco and launched just six months ago, Jumput specializes in letting users remix videos already online or edit their own video with its interface. Mike Arrington gave the company a good review when it launched, writing that it was even better than Motionbox - a service he called the best yet for sharing online video just days before Jumpcut launched. Yahoo! Video already has one of the biggest video search indexes online and will be all the more compelling with the added ability to remix posted content and edit original video online. The terms of the deal are not being disclosed, although our guess is that Yahoo paid nowhere near the $65 million in cash that Sony recently spent to acquire Grouper, a video sharing site with a P2P focus.
[...] The Yahoo! family expanded again today with the acquisition of online video editing service Jumpcut.
[...] In April, Techcrunch gave strong reviews for Motion Box, (which is not on Phil’s top 10 list) It’s interesting to see how the above list has changed since Nov 2005 from Techcrunch’s industry review. Yesterday we were even talking about the videos that Lunch 2.0 folks uploaded. Techcrunch has given a review on Jumpcut.
I came across a really cool video sharing site the other day when I was looking to add to my myspace. Its called vmix.com www.vmix.com. You can upload your videos like those other sites, and make a cool slide show with a bunch of skins. you can add to myspace or your blog. It seems pretty easy to get what you want and the interface is very clean. I didn't see it on that list above but its a good one.

I don't see the genius in this product. Seems to be very a lot of work for not much return. I prefer the veotag service as being easier to use and delivering a much better offering.

[...] Mentioned in many place (here, here, here and other locations), Motionbox has finally launched. This first iteration contains some of what will be a rich editing toolset but you can already get a sense of where it is going with the advanced player. This will be a very nice product. I suggest you check it out. And do use your phone ;) Video is going to be big. Really big. And it is not merely a fad as many of us try to find or build the “flickr” for video web site. It will be much bigger. Photography was huge (I am referring to pre-digital photography), but think of the economic and cultural impact of video whether it be theatre or television, cable or broadcast. It will be ubiqutous: photos will be consumed as video; phones are already enabling easy generation of video (and Motionbox makes it easy to get that video online…. nudge nudge); the devices we use will increasingly make consumption of video over the Internet easier. I think Motionbox will be a big part of what’s to come. [...]
