If microsoft can burst into the already crowded console market with the x-box, I really see no reason why they can’t succeed here if they are able to 1up the competitors.

In truth, it’s another way to monetize their ads, so it makes sense (whether some people hate microsoft or not). And to be honest, more competition isn’t a bad thing. As shown by Windows, lack of competition can hurt in very real ways. So I say go Microsoft. Even if they fail, they force others to innovate… and that’s a good thing.

I kind of agree about the newsworthiness of the domain being open but this is a blog, even though it’s a great news blog. And anybody that blogs as much as Arrington is going to toss in some things that seem important at the moment but might not be so important when one steps back or that seem important in terms of the blogger’s ongoing internal narrative tying all these posts together.

They are a late to the party. I agree with an earlier comment — can’t see how this is newsworthy yet. Maybe once they launch, it might be worth noting, but MSFT just does not have the reputation and user support for an endeavor like this in my view.

To tell you the truth, other than a simple “wow factor”, MS Live isn’t really up to par. I can’t put my finger on it, but for some reason I just don’t like the look, feel, layout, etc..
