I am happy to announce the launch of a new podcast blog - TalkCrunch. Each week we’ll be posting a new episode, featuring founders of companies we’ve written about the previous week.
For our inaugural episode, we invite Ethan Stock, Founder of Zvents and Narendra Rocherolle, Founder of 30boxes, to discuss Google’s new Calendar product, to be called “CL2″. We also talk about how Zvents and 30Boxes will (somehow) find a way to compete as the big guys enter the space with next generation calendar and event search products. Also participating are Nik Cubrilovic and Keith Teare, who will be regulars on the show. I’m also hoping to get Jeff Clavier to occasionally sit in.
We are hosting the podcast files on PodServe, which I wrote about here. The site design for TalkCrunch was done by Rachel Cunliffe, the founder of cre8d design, a web studio which focuses on blog design and community websites.
The feed for TalkCrunch is feeds.feedburner.com/Talkcrunch.

will this be available via iTunes subscription?
you might want to choose the ‘podcast’ option in feedburner instead. the ’subscribe-now’ chicklet will become podcatchers instead of generic readers.
Congrats.
Choonkeat - done…thank you.
Looking forward to the podcast. Hope it does well.
Great! I think this will be a great way to “meet” the people behind the companies, and maybe understand their strategies. Please keep this free.
This should be a nice addition. Thanks Mike.
Jimmy - yes, of course we’ll keep it free!
This is Great Stuff! Listening forward to it. Get some Crunchy guitar riffs for the soundtrack
What’s next VidCrunch?
pvtbfs
Congratulation Mike!
First of all I’ve got to say that Rachel Cunliffe did a traffic job! the interface just rock’s.
very nice and bright colors, perfect!
About the service of the site himself, I think that’s a really good idea for TechCrunch to
discuss in Podcasts over some company’s that you choose, cause that way you will be
able to explain deeply about them and any how some time the tone of the voice different from the tone of the write
so i think it’s great.
And may i just say that the Podcast is sounded immediately after i click the button which is very very fast!
(interesting podcast BTW)
Good for you Mike, you’re doing wonderful job on this blog, just keep up the good work!
Ah good, you took my advice.
Paul, yep, although I disagree strongly about Steve. He’s taught me a lot and he’s very, very good about getting past all the bullshit that people like me throw out there.
Promise me this Mike:
1) get all participants to turn off anything on their persons that beeps;
2) get all participants to lock and if possible sound-proof their doors;
3) get all participants to banish children from 500m near the microphone;
4) install cattle prods to deliver electric shocks to anyone who talks for more than two minutes at a time.
Mike,
Finally! - I knew when I had you on my show last year that you were a natural for this medium. I know you will do a great show.
Congrats!
Tom, Thanks very much. I hope I can be even sort of in the same podcasting league as you someday.
Paul, good feedback. I promise to do all of those things. It would be so cool to have a zap button to end those pesky monologues (except mine of course).
By the way, is Tinfinger ever going to launch or are you just going to keep talking about it forever?
Good luck with the podcasts Mike.
Yes and no.
Great Mike!
Nice job.
Two things:
First: Get someone in there who knows something about audio to build your set up. You’re muddy, you’re callers are not clear. Your audio production quality needs to be professional. You had “WeBreakStuff” do yoru web design, you need someone to do your audio design.
Second: Brevity is the soul of wit. You run really long.
Enjoyed the bit at the end as well on what to call this podcast, but didn’t hear any one suggest the name TalkCrunch.
How did you finally come up with it and decide to go with it?
I think the name’s perfect.
Welcome to the podcast world! Great job on your first episode.
One thing I keep hearing from listeners is that there’s still not enough great content to fill up their listening hours (just think, if someone has a 30 minute drive to work, that’s 5 hours of listening time a week). I’m sure your podcast will help fill that void.
Keep it up!
Hey Michael - John Furrier registered Podcrunch.com late last year. He declined to transfer it to me, so we went with talkcrunch.
This is great, Mike. After another longwinded Gillmor spew on last week’s show–something about the “Grey Beard Genius Club” and his mother–that I couldn’t listen to his daily show anymore, even though you were great on it. Now I get what I wanted all along in TalkCrunch. Great title, btw.
Hey Dave, Thank you…and I reiterate, STEVE GILLMOR is my hero.
You’re a gentleman, Mike.
Fantastic. I was wondering when you were going to get around to this. Talkcrunch is a fine edition to the network. Eagerly reading/listening.
The podcast is not working. When I click play I don’t hear anything. When I click download it says page not found.
It just dissapeared on podserve - not sure why and without much explination. So we are moving the hosting to oru own servers until we find out what happen with it. Apologies for that, but TalkCrunch is in Beta until at least the third episode
That great news. Now if Mike could only spell inaugural…
damn…well my spelling errors are well known at this point.
Wow great! I’ve been saying to myself for a while how great it would be to have a Tech Chrunch podcast! Can’t wait to listen, keep up the great work.
Inaccessible to deaf people of course. I hope information isn’t added to Podcasts where a summary is available here, or that cannot be found elsewhere online.
Alison - good point. Yes, the podcast is not available to deaf people at this time.
Pod cast for deaf people is available they just cant hear it
