[...] to eBay listings (before I started blogging on my own a year ago). Recently they launched Blogburst, a service aimed at providing traditional publishers (including SF Gate, Washington Post, Gannett, etc) access to pre-vetted blogs. I’m assuming the vetting process makes it easier for publishers to tap into ‘the blogosphere’ without combing through numerous individual posts. Meanwhile bloggers are provided an additional distribution channel for their content via these high-traffic publisher sites. Aligned with Pluck’s SiteLife blogging tools, it’s an interesting model for Pluck. They’re charging publishers for this service (behold a revenue model!) but currently not sharing proceeds with bloggers directly. Dave Panos, Pluck’s CEO, commented that they will provide a blogger compensation model after the beta period (check the comments on TechCrunch). [...]

[...] Publishers such as online newspapers are republishing topical content from pre-approved blogs via a service called BlogBurst. The publishers pay BlogBurst for the content being republished. Although none of the revenue is shared with the blog content provider, a byline and attribution/link back to the blog is included. At this moment, ads in content are not allowed but maybe allowed in the near future. The range of topics they are looking for at the moment is also fairly limited. [...]

Pre-approved??

Editors choose content??

Isn't this what's wrong with newspapers in the first place?

I want someone to enable me to autoprint out a newspaper in the morning built off of my OPML file. A VC, the Daily News Mets RSS feed, jobs from Indeed, and HorsePigCow on the front page. I don't want anyone picking my content for me.

I sort of understand the trepidation people feel about this, especially with the (current) absence of any revenue sharing model. But the fact that you're getting your content republished in high traffic places, and the traffic gets driven (hopefully) to your own site as a consequence, is quite appealing for those of us seemingly stuck firmly on the C-list.

[...] How could I not be interested! Granted, other bloggers are asking questions along the lines of “So? Yeah? And what else is in it for me?” For instance, read the comments in reply to this TechCrunch post. There’s a nice comment in there from one of the Pluck guys: Just wanted to weigh in with an important clarification. [...]
