[...] The site is well designed and includes some Flash components, although there were some issues as well. There are obvious areas that would benefit from Ajax (like the rating feature for recipes) and I could not find a way to make a recipe a favorite even though there is a favorites section. I also get the feeling this thing is hosted on a server in someone’s garage. Nonetheless, like Extratasty for drinks, this can be a very useful site for people who like to cook. [...]

[...] ExtraTasty (TechCrunch profile here) fit nicely into the TECH cocktail theme and is a creation of skinnyCorp, which has a suite of online products including the T-Shirt design site Threadless, the independent music site 15 Megs of Fame and Naked and Angry. ExtraTasty is a user-generated drink recipe website featuring tagging, drink submission via the site and text message, in addition to a drink rating system and comments. An interesting feature is the interactive drink measurement scale, which allows you to click on a drink serving size and the scale calculates the appropriate amount of liquor to concoct the specific drink recipe. FeedBurner, the West Loop-based feed management company, handles over 17 million subscriptions for over 200,000 publishers. FeedBurner has a host of interesting products including feed metrics packages for messaging feed readership. The TechCrunch feed is managed by FeedBurner, which has over 80,000 subscribers. FeedBurner has also has been positioning itself to be a targeted feed advertising option. Leveraging FeedFlare technology, FeedBurner has been able to insert advertisements under content items back on websites. Think of it as an ad network for feeds and sites, which makes FeedBurner an attractive acquisition target. [...]

"There is an option to include all of the things you have in your bar, and the site will tell you what drinks are possible in different combinations."

Not working for me; it keeps returning 0 recipes. If you need to be logged in for that to work, shouldn't it tell you so?

I started using extratasty a few days ago, and was disappointed in the selection of items you can add to your 'pantry'. Couldn't add ouzo, a Greek aspirtif.

Anyway, i'm commenting because of an idea i have - but don't know enough coding to execute.

essentially, its a beer rating system - rate beers based on differnt things, get it mobile and local (good pubs with good selection, update your profile from the pub on your cell phone) then it gives you suggestions once it learns the type of beer you like. i love the idea - feedback?
