I'm a video editor and was hoping to find a large online Storage area so I can swap info through computers rather then on external drives....I came to this site and heard talk of a beta version but cannot find out where to sign up...I would appreciate a trial or something, Since I'm transferring a lot of info I need something I can trust...

Anyways, if you can help send an email...

thanks

How quick is Omnidrive?

The more I read about Omnidrive the more it sounds just like an iDisk that .Mac mebers get with their £70 p/a subsription. However, without using an FTP client the iDisk service is teethpullingly slow.

[...] I’ve spent hours with it (and previously posted a brief mention) - significantly more than I spend with most products. The reason? This is a product that I and millions of others really need - a pure and functional online storage product with key web 2.0 features. Omnidrive is based in Australia, but is as good or better than anything else I’ve seen out of silicon valley recently. It has been in development for 12 months. [...]

I wonder how they plan to deal with illegal file uploads and the usage of their site as a warez dump-site....

Omnidrive sounds interesting - especially after reading his blog on the economics of online storage. Speaking of backing up for free.... I recently found this on Digg - a nifty thing (in fact its almost web 2.0ish) called Vembu StoreGrid. I use it for P2P backups in my intranet - so my laptop backs up to my wife's desktop and....you get the drift :-) Check it out at http://www.vembu.com/storegrid/free-backup-software.html

I love these services, but I can't help but compare these to the plethora of Webmail options. I already have a Mozy account (love that too), and plan to keep signing up for additional accounts, until I have all my files backed up.

Who do you see as the eventual acquirers of these services? The usual suspects?

I signed up for the beta, if they give me an account, I'll review it on my blog...

Do you know where and how the storage is maintained?

By any chance do you know the servers that are being used?

I very intersted in this space, a storage cloud is the future, rather than node based storage.

Isn't a flash drive a better option for almost anything you might use online storage for?
