V4S - Voicemail for Skype

I read about Orb’s V4S product on Scobelizer and Skype Journal. V4S is a good, free tool for sending voicemails to Skype and Outlook contacts.

V4S joins a whole bunch of products attacking the same or similar market (sending voicemails over the web): YackPack, Odeo Waxmail, vemail, Springdoo and even the humble slawesome.

Skype already has (good) built in voicemail. It also doesnt require that my computer be on. Tell me how this program is better, then Ill consider it. Otherwise, skype voicemail wins.

But you have to pay for Skype voicemail I believe (well it’s actually free with other paid services). So for those without a paid Skype account I would consider this.

    Hey Tom,
Disclosure - I work at Orb, we made V4S.

You’re right - Skype does have voicemail, and you do have to pay for it. Why V4S? 1) You get email or SMS alerts when you have a message 2)you can play the message on your mobile phone if you have a streaming player 3) you can include text and URLs w/ your voice message. You can’t do any of these things with Skype voicemail. PLUS - it’s free. Give it a try?

know about podomatic (cool synching to iPod capabilities!) but don’t think it works on my phone - what about those other things for voice-to-email?

You may all want to check out the new Springdoo. it now records over the web, is simple, and is free.

There is also a phone recrod option for when you are not near a computer.

I am from Springdoo, so I am biased, but I believe we have got a very simple system, and its free.

Here is why I love Springdoo:

This is a great service, I sent talking xmas emails to all my friends abroad. I’m surprised it’s free but I guess they make their money on emails sent from a phone.
