Video dating seems to be picking up as most of the laptops come with webcam inbuilt. Also it allows a relationship to begin on a strong note as people have actually seen each other at the start itself.

these guys have hit on something interesting.. a completely location based mobile dating service.. you text your address in and it give you hits of people who are close to you.. much more spontaneous than match or eharmony MeetMoi.com

Upon thinking about it a little more…

Video iPod dating is a TERRIBLE idea. These files should not under any circumstances be downloadable.

Do you want your video dating video to re-appear after a few years after your married and have kids? Do you want your “friends” to be able to remix your video?

Remember the Star Wars kid?

Dating videos should remain ethereal.

I don’t think internet video dating will take off, just like the video phone never really did. People don’t really want to get all dolled up just to talk to each other, especially when it is a situation like dating.

I agree with Ariel and Erik; I think there is an argument for downloading any content to your ipod just for the simple reason of not having to wait, and to be able to browse it later, especially when you have a limited amount of time to spend on the computer, people will be apt to spend more time with digital content when they are away from thier computer, content that may not fit into the regular computer time schedule, and therefor would be passed over, and most likely never viewed.

This way you could sync up at work, and watch your comedy clips and other things when you’re away from work, rather than trying to squeeze all of your broadband time into a few minuted here and there… could increase workplace productivity..

A better use of the ViPod than dating would be real estate.

When you’re on the open house tour with your broker, you can glance at video of the interior before you commit to parking, getting out, getting the key and so forth. You could probably get to twice as many open houses in a day.

I imagine someone is doing that (if not, feel free to run with the idea, I’m too busy)

I am working on some educational materials, which would be ideal on an ipod, but having a way to access wi-fi via an application object would be ideal.

Apple, don’t turn it into a mobile. First, get connectivity and see what people do with it. I would love some interactivity as well, and if I need to make decisions, mobile is where it’s at.

So many cool things are happening!

Hmm, true, but since these videos are all probably less that one minute, anyone with broadband won’t really have an issue (they should stream perfecrly).
