We do recommend using Google Analytics as it is a very robust analytics tool, and best of all its 100% free. Look for additions to the application once Microsoft releases their free analytics tool later this year.

[...] Update 2: Just went through bloglines and read the TechCrunch post about Google Analytics. The update Michael posted is interesting. It seems that Google “forgot” to tell the old subscribers to Urchin who paid $200 per month for the service that the switch was happening. Just check Ethan’s post for what he experience, moving from a $200 (happily paid) working version of Urchin, to a totally unresponsive free version of Google Analytics. [...]

[...] [ Migrated ] Google Analytics Google’s announcement about Google Web Analytics service came to me as a complete surprise. It's a rebranding of Urchin. I quickly signed up for the service and waiting for data to be collected now. Signing up took almost 30 min even though there were only 3~4 screens to go through. Surprising considering the speed of other services Google provides.Anyway, being the person most knowledgeable (within my company, of course) about web analytics system that my current company uses, I am very interested to see how Google’s offering would measure up. We are currently using WebTrends 7 and even though it delivers useful information, the whole thing is very complicated. Entire reporting site is built using Java applets and it takes quite some time to load reports. I am hoping that Google’s Web Analytics reporting interface is as fast as their Search or GMail. Fingers crossed.Adding tracking code to our code base wasn’t easy either when we implemented WebTrends 7. A lot of planning, meta-tagging, etc. This was mostly due to some of advanced tracking our business team wanted to do. It will be very interesting to see whether Google’s Web Analytics service would be able to provide all these advanced features while making the implementation very easy. For now, all I had to do was to copy its tracking Javascript code into my header files which is no different than what Sitewise requires for very basic tracking.I am also interested to see how Google would address all issues around third-party tracking cookie. This is a big problem for all web analytics companies since more and more people are blocking third-party cookies through their browser settings. We even have a whole project created to address this issue.Lastly, I think it will be great if Google can expose API to grab data out so that users don’t have to go to Google’s reporting site to get numbers. I am sure my business people would love it if I create a dashboard page internally where they can go to look at important numbers quickly without going through Google’s way of presenting information. How about a little app that sits on our Search Engine Optimization specialist’s desktop that displays constantly updated tracking data like stock ticker apps? For bloggers, it would be cool to show some useful tracking information on their site.[Edit] API issue verified. Google Analytics does not have API right now.Looking through some docs on their site, it looks very promising. But I still need to spend more time experimenting with this before I can create a project plan for my company to kill Sitewise and replace with Google’s tool.A few related articles / posts about this...
[...] The rumors were true - Google has snapped up MeasureMap, the excellent and beautifully designed blog analytics tool. What’s interesting here is that Measuremap was barely outta the gate - is this the first Web 2.0 service to be bought up while still in private beta? Still, an interesting acquisition - I’d love to see this bolted on to Blogger or becoming part of Google Analytics. This entry was posted on Tuesday, February 14th, 2006 at 5:25 pm.
I don't think that they need to grow up...They are now providing you with a service that you don't have to pay for anymore...Basically giving you $200 a month. If you could say anything I think it would be more how much the web developers need to grow up because they rushed Google's new release like puppies running for a dropped piece of cheese.

I have major problems with the stats. Not only is Google gathering ever since. I get some hits listed. But in the executive overview they dropped out one day completely and I know that there have been visits.

Well, it is Google and everybody goes for it.

I'm awesome--I spelled my name wrong before.

Anyways, people the world over are getting bounced out like that, -but- you can still get to your reports. Just use the direct link.

of course, it's not much consolation since no one seems to have weds' stats...

And now I can't get in at all.

I log in at the Analytics page and get bounced back to google.ie - thought it may be an Irish thing but, when I changed my preferences to use google.com, I just get bounced to my google.com/ig page.

Very frustrating.
