Microsoft is announcing Windows Live and Office Live, both online services, right now (10 am PST) at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. I am publishing my notes and pictures real time at CrunchNotes.

Windows Live is “live” at Live.com.

I asssume this was live.com is the same as start.com

I don’t see the value here, anyone can create a javascript tree menu and ajax nowadays. What happened to innovation at Microsoft?

looks to me like start.com pretty much just changed their name and some colors…not seeing anything shocking yet…

Agreed but this does have some potential when looking at their free apps.

Unfortunately, the failed to offer everything under one global sign-in. Why do I need to sign-up for each service seperately? What ever happened to passport?

one more thing…why is this even related to Office? This isn’t office, this is nothing more than a next-gen portal play.

Q: How do you spot an AJAX application?
A: Try using the Back/Forward Button..

Yeah, the search uses ajax but it doesn’t really gain much by being in ajax. The back button works but then you can’t go forward back to the search results also you can’t bookmark or share the search url.

WTF is this? A joke? It doesn’t even display well on IE and looks like the pre-alpha version of start.com.

What a joke. A f*king active-x control of turd, I mean word, grafted into IE.
    See you in hell Bill.
