Don't be such a jerk. I think anybody with a half-brain or better can probably figure out he means the company that runs the project is based there...what a useless comment. Anyway, the Linux kernel is definitely not anywhere near YOU, because it's nice and you're mean. So just stick to Windows ME, probably your preferred OS because you're so dumb. Oh, and don't marry a Dee.

I was using RSSOwl for a while, and i liked it... untili discovered they use a low level networking library, that is jpcap, and when i typed RSSOwl and jpcap in google found nothing about it...

why an RSS reader must use a library able to read any network packages (any is any, udp, ftp, tcp, ip, any protocol) in my intranet and... has no mention in the help, nor the source code, nor the documentation?

what are they "reading" in my network

so, i can't trust RSSOwl anymore

Mike, this is indeed a great suggestion. I was looking for a good offline RSS reader, and have also come across several others including feed demon. I believe this will work out just fine. Thanks.

[...] BlogBridge, a great rss feed reader (profiled by TechCrunch here), is seizing the videocast as a marketing tool, and is publishing Screencasts, meant to teach people the ins and outs of their program. Good stuff for any of you BlogBridge users, and if you haven’t tried BlogBridge, I reccommend trying it out and watching the videos. It’s a great app. atom BlogBridge blogs feeds information junkie rss // Used for showing and hiding user information in the comment form function ShowUtils() { document.getElementById("authorinfo").style.display = ""; document.getElementById("showinfo").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("hideinfo").style.display = ""; } function HideUtils() { document.getElementById("authorinfo").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("showinfo").style.display = ""; document.getElementById("hideinfo").style.display = "none"; } [...]

You might want to mention that BlogBridge uses the folder-based approach to feed presentation (similar to mail applications) as opposed to the "river of news". I went to try it out and this is what put me off. And btw, SearchFox is still the best "river of news"-style reader out there.

I was using http://www.feedreader.com which is very lite but bugy and seems to have lost its development.

I've moved onto http://www.rssowl.org which is java and very nice. There are a couple UI functions I dont like but very nice and quite fast on my PIII 600.

Thanks for the lead here to blogbridge. 'm interested to see hwo it compares to the Owl.

So this open-source project is "located in Arlington, Mass.", eh?

How is that possible? While you are at it, can you give me the location for the Linux kernel?

You might also want to check out Gregarious (http://gregarius.net/).

It's OpenSource and a bit like having your own personal version of Bloglines running on your server.
