Goowy Charges Ahead
by Michael Arrington on October 17, 2005

Alex Bard’s flash-based desktop replacement Goowy, based in San Diego, has impressed me from the start. We originally profiled Goowy on August 17, 2005 and again a couple of weeks ago.

Today Goowy released further functionality. First, they increased storage from 100 MB to 2 GB. While that storage is only for use with email now, they will soon be releasing a virtual file storage product, allowing users to really put that 2 GB to work.

Second, Goowy released a flash-based desktop application that allows you to access core Goowy features without going to the site. Email notifications, RSS updates, calendar items, etc. are included. The look and feel is very much like Konfabulator, but we’ve noticed no performance issues on our machine as we did with that service.

If flash is your thing (and maybe even it if isn’t), Goowy is for you. Let us know what you think of it.

the goowy thing works, but everytime i click widgets or mail on the toolbar, nothing happens, it just bounces…i dunno about this!

I had similar feedback to the company. The current fix is to right click on the icon in the system tray to open/close it.

Goowy is a fresh wind in what are otherwise quite flat desk top replacement email services. The new services are need work but welcome additions.

This was slow to refresh and switch to new application views.

Good luck with it and hope it hits the spot for users over time

at first, i really got excited because it’s something new. out of the ordinary.

but it’s just too hard to work with at times. there are moments wherein you’re stuck at a certain section waiting and waiting..

i feel so sorry not being able to use it because of this problem.

i really would like to set my goowy account as my primary e-mail address.

kindly mail me regarding to what i could do.

hoping to be goowyed,
(^o^)

I like the site and the program. It may be a bit slower and it has a few kinks, but after a crackdown at work, this is the only non-outlook email that will work. How else am I supposed to get all my gaming news and NSFW jokes?

yes it is cool but not very impressive, flash is so slow for me

would u please b able 2 open up goowy again as i like the website and av nothin else 2 do whn i am in a borin lesson i reli liked tht wud u please at least conceder it thnx xxxx
