Unfortunately like many Internet business ideas blogging is often presented as a way to “get rich quick”, don’t be fooled it’s not a quick route to riches beyond your wildest dreams. On the other hand you can make a lot of money blogging, there are several well known bloggers that make a six figure income.
[...] Yet now, Eagle’s resources enable RedState to do move in new directions. More than just a wannabe Daily Kos, by now it’s in a new category: a reciprocal relationship between new media and old. This kind of thing is not entirely new — AOL paid Jason Calacanis some $25 million for Weblogs, Inc., while the New York Times Co foolishly plopped down more than $400 million for About.com — but those have more in common with dot com-era gambles rather than synchronistic strategic acquirements.
[...] Blog networks are hot investments right now, particularly as they continue to take traffic from established (and high-overhead) news websites. At least three blog networks have raised venture financing (GigaOm, PaidContent and B5 Media), although the size of those investments combined is probably less than this Sequoia-backed round.
Edward, There are two things you can do.

1. Purchase your own domain name and redirect it to your blog. Let people on your blog know about the new domain name as the best way to find your blog.

2. Start using feedburner to redirect your RSS readers. If you change blogs, you can very easily update the new RSS information at Feedburner and your readers will not have to change anything.

These two steps will ensure that you can seemlessly change platforms without losing readers.
