There are reports that AOL has acquired Weblogs, Inc. and will officially announce it later this week. The acquisition price, including earnouts, is reported to be $20-35 million.

Weblogs, Inc., founded by Jason Calacanis and Brian Alvey was launched just two years ago and is funded by Mark Cuban. Calacanis has reported a revenue run rate of about $2 million.

Congratulations to all of the bloggers and employees of Weblogs, Inc. There are a number of additional public/private acquisition deals that will be announced this month as well.

do you have any advice for those of us who are stuck in MSN Spaces, and do not wnat to transfer their blog because of fear of losing the readership that they have come to accumulate.

    Thnaks in Advance,

Edward, There are two things you can do.

    1. Purchase your own domain name and redirect it to your blog. Let people on your blog know about the new domain name as the best way to find your blog.

    2. Start using feedburner to redirect your RSS readers. If you change blogs, you can very easily update the new RSS information at Feedburner and your readers will not have to change anything.

These two steps will ensure that you can seemlessly change platforms without losing readers.
