70% of TechCrunch Readers use Firefox

One of the great features of Measure Map (profiled here and here) is that it gives you real time stats on almost every aspect of your blog.

One of the features I like to check out every once in a while is “Browsers your visitors used today”. Today I noticed that 69% of TechCrunch visitors use Firefox, whereas only 16% used Internet Explorer and 14% used Safari. These numbers vary a bit from day to day, but Firefox always has a commanding lead.

Measure Map is still in closed beta but has given me permission to post the image below, grabbed earlier today.

A point of curiosity - do the stats include those viewing the blog solely through feeds?

The stats are interesting. Can you break out usage by PC, Mac and Linux? I am hearing that many online publishers are seeing 10%+ Mac usage…which does not jibe with the popular notion that there are only 3%-4% Mac users out there. Just curious.

actually, i don’t think those stats are available (pc v. mac, etc.). The 11% safari stat is obviously all mac, so yeah, we are seeing 10+% mac.

Kevin, its sort of the opposite - the stats only include people who visited the site. Since we post full feeds, many readers never hit the site, and so are not counted by measuremap.

I tried this and found out that Firefox seems to be getting a fairly sizable amount of users, though I am amazed that TechCruch is getting 70% Firefox users!
