It is not alarming that over 300 million people are on facebook. I am a Tennesee State Univerity junior mass communications major from Nashville, Tenn. and I frequently use facebook. From the website alone I learned that 85% of college students use facebook often. The website is a quick source for networking and comunication. In my opinion Facebook is in the leading category next to e-mail. I surveyed four random students on my campus to see how much time they spend on facebook daily and three of the four stated they have it on their phones and they check the website every 2 to 3 hours in the library or at home. This to mean that facebook is just now beginning to grow and could potientially be the biggest networking and chat website of all time. According to wikiquestions.com 33.23% of high school graduates attend college this means another 28.24% of the students will be facebook members.

I think facebook is part of the system that is making people less personable and less inclined to chat up a genuine conversation wtih someone over the phone or in person. I think it inadvertently promotes shallow forms of communication and togetherness.
